Fated Mates | Night III Complete

"I...do feel as if our meeting was fated," you tell him. "And I don't wish to part ways with you, but I would never lie with a man to whom I am not wed. Moreover, I wouldn't drag you into sin by consenting to such an arrangement."

"Perish the thought," murmurs Valdricht.

Definitely took longer than anticipated but Night III of Fated Mates is complete. It's less linear than originally planned. Your storyline will diverge from this night forward, depending on your dynamic with Valdricht. While there will still be minor ways in which to impact your dynamic beyond Night III, your dynamic will be mostly set.

For those playing the Drowning Maiden dynamic, I opted not to give you the option to outright reject Valdricht's offer. It would have been a false choice and just sent players down a path that would have either been game over or circling back onto one of the other paths. I had a whole branch drafted out for it, but trust me it was really tedious.

For Anchored Maidens, there is no offer in this chapter, that will come in the next one. Sort of. The tone of this chapter will be more subdued for you, but that will shift a lot on Night IV, particularly after your next dreams.

The dream in this one has our MC finally meeting Miscilla. For those who played the original Bride of Shadows, keep in mind that there are people new to the story here who have no idea who Miscilla is. Moreover, we're not dealing with exactly the same Miscilla in the rework. Her storyline follows many of the same beats and is interconnected with the MC's in similar ways, but there will also be interesting ways in which it diverges.

I think she'll be a much more compelling character in the rework, similar to Anja and (eventually) Annahera. You'll either love her or love to hate her, depending on your personality. I could go either way, myself. I see her as an Apple of Discord/Snake in the Garden type figure and the perfect foil for our naive MC.

There are a lot of variables and conditionals in this chapter. I'm fairly certain I tested each branch multiple times, but if you trip over a continuity error, let me know!
