Patreon progress & alternate POV Poll

Gonna start by saying I’ve been really surprised by the growth of the Patreon. When I launched it earlier this month I was kind of apprehensive, as I thought I was starting it too soon. I’m glad I did, as it gave me a good idea of how realistic writing full-time would be. As of right now, I’m optimistic that will be a possibility. My husband is already nagging me to scale back on tutoring and focus on writing. It’s not quite that easy as I love the kids I work with, but I’m definitely not taking on new clients and I’m considering not returning for the summer semester of school. For those who don’t follow Mortish lore, I am a Mexican high school teacher and English language tutor.

This past week I’ve been super “chismosa.” That’s a fun Spanish word that means “nosy” and a dozen other things depending on the context. I’ve investigated a lot of other Patreons of IF authors to see what they offer and what their readers most enjoy. I have a big list of things I want to add to make the Patreon even better for members & followers. I’ll be rolling new features out as I have time.

My first addition will be alternate POV scenes. I’ll be doing a short one each month for all members & followers, as well as a longer one that will be for Darksinger/Duskweaver members that you’ll vote on. After the first one I’ll be rigging the options to ensure we have a balance of Serax & Valdricht POVs. I’ll also be posting some periodic Wyransith vocab/grammar guides. Oh, and bonus scenes, too.

This is a heads up that I’ll be posting more frequently, probably every other day, so if you don’t like getting lots of emails from me (I feel that) be sure to update your notification settings.

All that out of the way, here’s our first poll for alternate POV scenes. This poll is open to everyone, this scene will be long and available to all followers. The winner will be written this weekend. Don’t worry if your choice doesn’t win, I’ll likely write the other in April. My hope is to be able to do a lot more than two per month but I don’t want to over-promise.
