Future Plans/Patreon Updates/Progress Report (10/21)

Good morning! Sorry for being a bit quiet, I've been juggling a bunch of things at once. The WIP will be out today, though! Putting a few finishing touches on it.

After it's out, I'll be spending a few days finishing up player model commissions. After that I will be finishing Ranha's Day Out!

Apologies for the delays after I said I'd release this a while back, I got pretty burnt out and then had to recode a bunch of things for the Druid stuff numerous times.

The good news is that I created an easily usable framework to make adding any new summons extremely easy! This means summoning items/classes will be easy to add in the future.

I'm not sure how many more classes will be added in the base game, as (as of 1.2.w.1) there will already be six. I might cap it out at eight total at most. I've covered most of the archetypes for classes I wanted to hit now with Druid & Duelist.

TLDR it's a slay-the-spire style card combat spin-off game!

Below is a WIP sketch for the game's thumbnail/title screen done by the amazing PercyBulloon!

I'm roughly 75% done with it. I need to finish some more scripting, a few sprites, and some card art but it is nearly complete. My ETA for this is like ~12 days or so, as I'll probably spend another few days finishing commissions.

Version 1.2 WIP #2

As I mentioned earlier, my original plans for the WIP #1 was to include the first two tiers of the endless dungeon. I spent a few months working on this stuff, so it is also nearly complete but was pushed back. WIP #2 will include this, and some extra community content such as quests and items. This will be out pretty soon after Ranha's Day Out, as I got the major hurdles done.

I still need to finish some overworld object spritework, a bit of enemy dialogue, and put the floors together in the engine i created to handle the floor generation for the dungeon tiers. This is just a matter of throwing them into the grid system it uses for room connections!

There's no ETA on this yet but as I finish up the other stuff I'll post more about it!

Version 1.3

Version 1.3 of the game will be a complete overhaul to the map & story of the game, meaning a lot of current content will be cut or recycled into other parts of the game.

This will feature the first half of chapter 1 of the game (there'll be about five or six chapters depending on how I cut up the finale of the base game), equating to about 100 quests total.

Below is a look at the updated main village, which will be a property city! The vibe of the game is shifting more towards high fantasy in the new story, with a more developed world immediately outside of the settlement. The other two settlements (Auris & Sharpclaw) will be largely the same, though more friendly to outsiders!

I've put a lot of time into planning out the updated world map, and I think it will be quite fun to explore! You'll notice a significant improvement in the quality of sidequests, as most will be more explicit and feature more custom assets.

Most of the current side-quests (the fetchquests) will be scrapped and replaced with better content involving more custom scenes.

A lot of the characters will be similar to their current iterations, with some varying changes. I look forward to showing more of it off as I work on it! The next post about it will likely be the larger devlog I have planned.

Updates to Patreon Content

As I mentioned prior I'm gearing towards doing more frequent, smaller Patreon releases to prevent such long gaps in content drops. WIP 1.2.w.2 onwards will reflect these changes! The community led questline will start in this release and start updating every release afterwards!

I'm also thinking of making some changes to the Patreon as a whole. At the rate the game updates a lot of the accessories and trinkets are purely from the suggestion box. I have concerns about balance and using ideas for community stuff rather than in-game rewards from dungeons and the like.

As a result I was thinking of changing the suggestion box to be purely cosmetic items or interactive items (stuff to use on NPCs) that don't affect gameplay like trinkets and consumables do.

A full list of things that would still be included are: pets, furniture items, interactive items (for NPCs), and possibly cosmetics once I find a new plugin to implement them.

Let me know how you'd feel about this change! If it isn't well received I'll probably do away with the suggestion box/bonus goodies tier entirely and just move the other stuff down to the main tier. If I do so I won't raise the cost of the tier C:

Additionally, if you have other ideas for things you'd like to see from the Bonus Goodies tier, let me know! Things included in this would generally have to be things that could easily be done for a larger group (as the tier has like 30-40 people it it I believe) without taking away too much dev time.
