Ankheg's Mandible Sickle: One-Sided.

Greetings All!

I had wanted to do a mandible sickle for a while, and this was the perfect excuse! These ‘Mandible Blades’ were submitted by Demetheus!

One of the most fun aspects of Item Submissions is working around user created mechanics. Figuring out a way to balance or streamline those for use in 5e. This being one of those, originally proposed as.

“18 or higher, you add an extra 1d4 acid damage to the damage roll, This bonus damage stays until you miss an attack or you don't take an attack action during your turn, at which point you must get an 18 again.”

With a bit of tinkering, and lowering the trigger roll to treat it more like Vorpal Blades triggering 20. I think it works out quite nicely, as well as adding in the static +1 Acid Damage much like some of the static additional damage staffs. Though tracking the roll window for triggers has so many shades of 3.5e for me.

Item Submittal is always open - Smiter’s and Up have automatic entry, and voting privileges.

Be Safe and Keep Playing!

Updates: Minor shadow fix!

Truly, as always and ever sincerely, Thank You.

Description:

This crude looking sickle is almost completely composed of Ankheg remains, hence the name. Its fearsome mandible has been attached to a smaller fore-limb, forming the sickle blade. The shaft is reinforced with crude iron, and bolted together with a light wrapping of the grip to suit the user. While simple in assembly, due to the light enchantments to keep its natural characteristics active, it is still quite deadly in use.
