Next Novella: Patron Vote!

Hey everyone, this is a spur-of-the-moment decision, and I can't give any realistic timeline, but I'd love to know what you all want to read.

I'm thinking of writing another small story similar to how I did Berserker. Likely just 20-30 chapters and a single arc of a character's life or journey. I have three vote options below and a brief explanation of what you might expect so that you have some context for your vote.

Truthfully, I have a lot more that I could be writing for Spell Weaver (Main), so I won't be spending too much time on this each week. However, providing something unique for Patrons is something that I've wanted to do for some time. So, I'd post chapters here sporadically (maybe around one a week), and it would just be something to continue building the world and a fun side project for me.

Now, onto the fun stuff, the options!

Story Option 1: The Reaper

The name sounds a bit cliche, but I have put quite a bit of thought into this character, and it's something I'll write eventually anyway. Contrary to the edgy protag you might be picturing, this would be a younger MC who is slight and unassuming. Their trait is {The Meek and Unseen}. It would likely be a bit darker or grittier and is a revenge story.

Their backstory has actually been recently teased in the conversation with Edwin. This Novella would take place in Detroit after the Safe Zones have been established. You'll get to see more of what the Safe Zone life and super-powered crime look like as the famous Detroit gangs begin awakening. As this MC grows into their power, they essentially single-handedly keep the gangs in check and prevent anyone from overreaching. As they outgrow the city and leave, chaos erupts, and the HA is overthrown in the Safe Zone (which is the timeline that Alex and the team are currently at, where Edwin mentions the events outside of the Shadow Rift.)

Similar to how Jonathan was shown before appearing in the main series, this would allow you guys to see this person's origin story before they appear in the main series! I found that pretty fun to do with Berserker.

I won't say more than this. Hopefully, that's enough to give you an idea of the arc and power scale and fit into the general world-building!

Story Option 2: Edwin

Honestly, I'm a bit hesitant to offer this one! People seem to love Edwin, and it would make me a bit nervous to write him in a way that people wouldn't enjoy. Additionally, I find it hard to write Edwin's thoughts and tone sometimes. It's definitely not a natural way for me to talk or write, so it's done with a bit more intention.

That being said, I did have fun with his POV recently. I plan to write this one eventually anyway, but this Novella would focus on his time handling the month that Alex and the team are in the Shadow Rift. There are some things going on out there that he decides to handle on his own and that he "doesn't need to bother Master Moore" with, so this will likely be the only lens to see it from. Unless John Riley or Ian tell some stories later and fill Alex in, Edwin will just handle BINNESS. lol

You all saw the squatters and awakened attempting to push into the property during his POV chapter, but he doesn't mention it to Alex in the updates. Also... if it wasn't obvious enough from how I wrote his response or body language, [Chop] being his second most used skill, is not from helping Gabby in the kitchen!

Story Option 3: European Summoner

I haven't thought about this yet, but I have always loved the summoner archetypes. It wouldn't be a necromancer but an actual summoner. Not bonded companions, temporary summons for related tasks before timing out or being dismissed.

The setting for this one would be a European country. I know some Patrons have requested this, as they aren't from the US and see their government in a very different light.

Being a US citizen, this would likely require a decent amount of research on my end. I would also want to have a slower release schedule to make sure that things still feel real enough. It could be interesting to see how the integration is handled from another worldly perspective, so I've always been open to this idea.
