We are the last shard of sanity in a world on the verge of implosion. Rock Head is a dying beast that desperately clings to life - no matter how undignified. It barfs toxic sludge and shoots venom in its own veins; it harbours scumbags in the hollows of its bones: an image of pre-Blackout humanity reflected in a pool of fetid waste. If you think that you can open its eyes to the misery of its existence, think again. Just like an animal with its leg in a trap that snaps at its saviour, unable to see that a moment of pain can be traded for relief, Rock Head will always be deaf to Torchbearer’s Gospel.
Which is why I have to stress the importance of discretion. The upcoming Arena season presents an opportunity to advertise our activities and find new recruits. We have to make sure that every member of the Syndicate sees things the way we do and recognises the need for sacrifice to elevate this ravaged world into greatness. Have trust in your brethren, but place no one above scrutiny. Subject new members to rigorous testing of physical and mental prowess and gradually ease them into their duties. In the face of active resistance, we must remain steadfast in our mission.
We may not be stronger than our adversaries now, but fire and death are great equalisers. The day will come when blinding light spills onto the carcass of mankind and washes away its taint. Dread not the scourge, but let the ashes of today nourish the barren soil of tomorrow. Our share in the production of steel and pandemonium alloys grows by the day, and soon the active preparation stage will begin to make sure that the Syndicate will see the world reborn with our own eyes.
