Insolence

Hey folks!

I'm making tremendous progress on this month's Prince of Persia comic! I keep adding depth to the story and scenes and I think this will turn out to be one of my best "bad ending" tales! 😄

I'm really glad to be writing a story from the villain's POV again. Bad guys make for more interesting characters, I find. And I believe this was Jordan Mechner's intent when he created PoP.

For instance - Jaffar is the only named character in the original games. The other characters are just "The Prince", "The Princess", "The Sultan", etc. They're all just caricatures. Except for Jaffar. Even most of the promo material on the boxes were written from his POV, and he's the most prominent figure in the artwork.

To be fair - Jaffar is still a pretty 2D villain. His motivations are pretty singular. He just wants power.

But he also lusts after the Princess. It's a bonus that marrying her will legitimize his seizure of the throne. But he can take her or kill her - either way, he'll have his crown. The choice is hers after the sands run out in the hourglass.

I imagine he's been harboring resentment towards the Sultan and the Princess for years. Whether real or perceived - he believes he deserves a lot more. And the time has come for him to take it! 😈

This will form the crux of my tale. There are a LOT of narrative elements I'm bringing together to really pump up the badness of this ending. So stay tuned for that. 😄

I'll probably release this comic by 2 June. Sorry it won't be exactly at the end of this month as I'm leaving town for dental surgery and won't be back in time to finish adding text.

But this is going to be a big one! Probably 120 - 150 pages, or somewhere around there. Will know more in a week or so.
