Behind the Scenes: Editing the Audio Series

Here's a fun bit of behind the scenes for you all. Here you can see a timelapse (of about 30 minutes) of our editor putting together the first pass of a scene in Adobe Premiere Pro.

Each coloured wave form is one of our actors reading the lines with the green ones on the timeline being intial sound effects.

From the top part of the screen you can see the raw sound files to which they select the best takes or parts of each line - sometimes taking different parts from a different take that the actor performs.

Once the initial pass is done, then it's down to greating a mastered version of the scene, adding in all the sound effects and music tracks in for the final mix.

Then it's on to the next scene!

In case you were wondering, this is our season finale "The Blue Moon" - and it's shaping up to be very exciting indeed!

Did you find this interesting? Let us know about any questions you have about how we produce the series! :)

Behind the Scenes: Editing the Audio Series

Comments

"Essentially we're looking for as much human conflict as possible, even given the supernatural nature of the series. Basically we never want things to be simply black and white, good and evil, but more various shades of grey which we all carry with us, transfered into our characters and storyline. By grounding our supernatural thriller in authentic human conflict and psychological depth, we strive to create a series that not only entertains but also prompts introspection and discussion among our listeners. Of course, we also work hard to balance these character-driven elements with an engaging, suspenseful plot that keeps our audience on the edge of their seats. It's a delicate balancing act, but one that we believe sets 'Tales from Davidstown' apart as a unique and thought-provoking audio drama." - Julia, Executive Producer
