Mountain Trail
Added 2024-01-09 00:09:14 +0000 UTCStarting the new year off with the completed YCH for Decalion, of their dragoness Firebrand getting some fresh mountain air. This was a charity auction over on FA, and the full amount of the final bid went to the Judith A Bassett Canid Education & Conservation Center, which is a really cool organization I visited last year during a trip to southern California. Many thanks to Decalion and everyone who bid!
This one forced me to think about how to render a texture that looked scalie without overdoing it. I'm much more comfortable with fur, and even then I don't get too deep in the weeds with detailing texture, but she needed something more than a totally smooth skin I thought. When I work with scales again at least I'll be better prepared.

If they don't look good, they become distracting, so as much as I know there's a lovely dragon to be drawn I don't want her (only) piece of clothing to be a distraction. Besides that, it was really satisfying to work out a scale texture.
