I know most of you, my dear and loyal supporters, are probably tired of hearing this, but I need to vent and also inform the newer ones here.

Large illustrations in Daz are often a total nightmare. There are hundreds, sometimes thousands of items, and the scene will most likely start to freeze, making it nearly impossible to handle or move objects. These freezes usually happen because of a problematic asset—whether it’s clothing, hair, or something else—causing slowdowns and crashes. The bigger the scene, the higher the chances of this happening, since the number of assets increases.

Even when there isn’t a specific asset causing the freeze, scenes with that much geometry, even when working with grouped elements, are very difficult and time-consuming. Having to constantly select and deselect things just to preview the full scene eats up a lot of time.

And that’s not even mentioning the scene’s loading time. This one has been taking me over half an hour just to open. Then a few more minutes to save—and if for any reason I have to close and reopen it, it’s pure hell on earth.

And finally, the rendering time. Due to the size of the scene, I had to split it into three separate renders, each one taking an average of four hours. We render separately because depending on your video card’s RAM capacity, it simply can’t handle all the geometry at once—not even two parts together. So we render in pieces and later assemble everything in Photoshop. If the GPU had more RAM, or if the scene were smaller, a single render might have been enough, saving a lot of time and energy.
