Is it because Gooseman did not use guild actors or is it because the film is too sexy and the guild is only trying to protect us from going insane with lust? Perhaps one day we will learn the truth.

There's no nutritional value in them at all and could cause health problems. I can only hope that they were actually just plants and other organic matter, convincingly decorated to look like synthetic shorts.
