It’s the will of the gods! My friends and I always laughed at this movie but it’s not bad. Great cast too, Brian cox, Orlando bloom. Sean bean, Eric bana, Brad Pitt and more. I use the gif of Brian Cox laughing almost every week.

Eric Bana is such a solid actor. He has so much charisma even when he shares the screen with Brad Pitt his presence is unquestionable. I could never decide I like him more in this or Black Hawk Down. He has got more lines and more of a character here but after watching a few interview with Master Sgt Norm "Hoot" Hooten I realized the incredible work he has done in BHD. The mannerisms, the way he delivers his lines, the swag, his humbleness...very great work indeed.

Love this movie! It’s one of my favs as depressing as it is. I get angry at Paris & Helen every time! Ugh lol
I identify with both Achilles and Hector.
. I prize independence, self love & improvement. I have a healthy distrust of government and speak directly & openly to people who need to be called out like Achilles. His ability to pivot and be flexible is top tier.
At the same time, I try to always be honest, have integrity/ honor. I strive to be empathetic yet strategic and wise like Hector.

Boagrus is Nathan Jones from the Gold Coast. He got 16 years in jail when he was 17 in 1987 for several armed robberies & served 7. Then became Australia’s Strongest Man & won international events…went into acting, WWE for a while, & tried MMA. Been in some other decent films too, but a fellow Aussie for you both!

The Achilles heel is so named because of Achilles. His mother, a goddess, dipped all her children in a magical river to make them indestructible but she was interrupted and the one place she misses was Achilles heel

I haven’t watched yet but for the longest time I’ve said that Troy seems like it would be such a Spartan movie

I do like this movie, part of me wishes it was multiple parts. In the Iliad, the war lasts 10 years. It would've been so cool to see that.
There's also other factions that come to aid the Trojans. One of them being the Amazonians (an all woman army) led by queen Penthesilea.

The reason Achilles feels god like and above every other soldier in this movie, is because in the mythology of it, Achilles is literally a Demi-god. The movie portrays him pretty accurately in that way.
Side note: not sure if you guys picked up on it or not, but… Sean Beans character is King Odysseus from the Story The Odyssey. The Odyssey starts right after the battle of Troy. The Trojan war raged for 10 years. It took Odysseus 10 more years to make it back home. 20 years absent his family. Thought I’d throw that in lol fun fact

Oh fun! I’m currently taking a Classical Myths class as part of my Art History Masters program. This is on my list to watch. I saw it when it came out. Nice excuse for a rewatch!

A couple things. The Achilles heel is named after the myth, so not ironic, but the origin. 😀
Patroclus is usually interpreted as Achilles’ best friend and lover, giving Patroclus’ death much more weight than that of a cousin. When Patroclus disguises himself as Achilles, he wins battles and kills Sarpedon, son of Zeus (so yes, he kills a demi-god). He’s also older than Achilles but is his second in command.
Also, the arrow that Paris uses is sometimes said to have been poisoned, explaining how he was able to take down Achilles.

I’m not sure if they’ve ever seen Legends of the Fall, but Pudgy saying “he woke the bear” makes me really want to see their reaction to it. It’s such an incredible movie — definitely worth the watch.
