the gauntlet itself is a piece of machinery that can be modified to fit functional needs, composed of a tech-guts filled core that forms the upper half of the forearm, and an interchangeable second half that slots into the core and can be exchanged or modified for different use cases

the hook is the most versatile and is the attachment Marceline prefers to use as her "hand"

there are variations of different tools like a shovel, hammer, drill bit, and a motor and gear system allow for her to do all sorts of handywoman things, very useful for tasks like maintenance

there's a prosthetic wooden hand that can be popped on the end, no functionality but if you're out in the city then it'll help you stand out a smidge less in a crowd

and then there's special augments like the ballistics, which are attachments that slide over the body of the core and hook up into the inner mechanisms to provide new functionality

control of all components of the arm comes from a combination of physical inputs through what remains of the arm within the gauntlet, and hookups to nerve endings that have limited input and ultimately make it an unremoveable extension of the body

Marceline greatly values defense and solitude on the home front and will readily equip ballistics to frighten away unknown individuals, if need be
