Piracy Is Your Fault

Another week, another video. This time it's all about how businesses create their own problems, and then cry about it.

Piracy Is Your Fault

I worked at burgerking when I was 15 (the year 2000) and I can confirm. . . . these videos were just. . .so cringe.

As a kid, I’d more often just play the shareware/demo. The most common type of ‘piracy’ was when one kid bought a key and shared it with his buddies for multiplayer. There were some games that I only played this way. "The fallacy of the lost sale": I wasn’t going to buy a copy just for that. This business of snatching content that I’ve already paid for is getting onerous. Recently, I have been relying on some stores streaming abilities, only for them to suddenly take down content I’ve purchased. (Yes, I could’ve theoretically downloaded it in these cases, so I wasn’t given a refund.) Quite frankly, I like the last option: just don’t buy it! itch.io, GOG, etc., are full of so many great titles that I don’t even bother with the “AAA” scene much anymore.
