Progress Update - March 1st, 2021

Next up, Quirks (also known as Fetishes).

At the moment, I like where a large chunk of the fetishes are in Lustiest Lair. I just feel like there could be “more” that these fetishes can do.

To give you an idea what I mean, let’s create a hypothetical fetish called “Stripdancer”. The hero would of course prefer to spend their time at the Tavern putting on shows for the patrons and would be locked out of participating in any other activity -- but that doesn’t add anything during an expedition.

Sure, it gives the player a choice during downtime to either remove this fetish or send them to the Tavern to remove a smaller amount of stress than the more costly activities and there’s a level of strategy to that and even a good amount of flavor there.

But, we could make this fetish even more flavorful by making the character act like a stripdancetripdancer during the expedition as well. For instance, the character may want to “show off” during an encounter by marking herself and moving herself forward in the ranks while increasing her dodge and lowering her defense as she begins to “strip”. She would even say something addressing her urge to disrobe. 

Further, this can have implications while camping. For instance, during camp, she might have a chance of offering to start the night off with a “show” which would relieve the lust of her teammates.

This is just one hypothetical quirk; though, you can see how I want to really expand on the quirks system by really leaning into them and give some quirks a bit of love and some much needed flavor. :)

Oh for sure, I do want to create more Afflictions, the optional Estrus one on Nexus is one of those experiments -- there's just a lot that I want to get to first. ^^

Yep, what SomeGuy said is true, you can have quirks behave a lot like the Afflictions do in order to perform random actions inside of combat, while walking or in-camp -- so I plan on expanding on that a bit. On the note with the Cursed Witch, she's getting some pretty big changes and I've taken the health into account in order to make it more in-line with the other bosses.

I'm all for it considering there are few quirks but hey maybe while brainstorming you might get ideas for afflictions/virtues as well.

I believe it's possible for a quirk to have effects like that, considering other quirks such as Imposter Syndrome that occasionally force a Pass during combat, and other mods have quirks that have mid-combat effects. I think this is a great idea, personally.

I quite like the idea, but I'm not sure if Quirks can be expressed like that- it would be fantastic if they could, though. On an unrelated note- does anyone else find the cursed witch a slight pain to fight? The health of her illusions really drag the fight out.
