Quarantine Fairy: Tan Lines

Sorry for the slightly late post. Thanksgiving, family, falling asleep at the computer, you know how it goes.

TEXT

"Ugh, like, this tan is taking FOREVER!" Stacy grumbled as she loaded herself back into the tanning bed in the basement. She hated this thing, but it was the only good way to keep her tan looking, like, super sexy during the winter! Ugh, and WINTER! Whoever came up with such a dumb season should be totally FIRED! The eighteen year old cheerleader let out a disgruntled sigh over her perfectly plump lips as she adjusted the annoying little goggles she had to wear, and adjusted her bikini where it had ridden up on her. She had made peace with the fact she would have tan lines, but at least they'd be hidden.

"Now honey, remember that you're just keeping it sustained so you can go back to natural tanning in the spring" Her mother, Sharon, cautioned from above her as the older woman set the timer, "These machines really do a number on the skin if you use them a lot on high power and you'll look like a leathery bag of bones!"

"Um, DUH mom! Now close the lid, please? The quicker we get this done the quicker I can get out and help you and grandma finish Thanksgiving dinner!" Stacy said with another annoyed sigh. Her mother gave her a stern look before lowering the lid of the tanning bed down over her daughter, and with a press of a button and a loud HUUUM, the bright lights within began their not-quite-healthy work. Stacy tried to do her best to get comfortable within the tanning bed as her mom left the basement. It was just her and the incessant humming of the older machine as it bombarded her skin with light particles. Eventually she drifted off into a semi-awake state, her thoughts no longer on how cold the glass was or how unpleasant having to do this twice a week was, but instead of the upcoming holiday dinner that evening.

It was the first big Thanksgiving dinner since the Pandemic had hit. The entire family had come in from all over the country and her mom and grandma were in dire need of some help in the kitchen. Stacy wasn't much of a cook, but she was happy enough to be another set of hands (since her dad and brothers and grandpa were too busy watching football in the den to be of any use). She had already set the long tables that were set up in the dining room, the kitchen AND the living room, so once she got done here she was planning on continuing to help.

She started thinking about the three turkeys they had bought slowly cooking in the ovens upstairs, how warm it must be in the ovens, the sizzling fat and darkening skin as it went from the disgusting white-pink cold flesh to golden-brown, crsipy and delicious.

"Mmm...I wish my skin could look like that..." Stacy said sleepily as she stretched, her mouth already watering. The cheerleader, between the humming of the tanning bed and her own drowsiness never heard the tiny voice say 'Wish granted!' along with the sound of two tiny fingers snapping. But what she did notice was that where she had been cold...She started to warm up. It was a pleasant feeling, as if the core of her body had been frozen stiff but was now starting to thaw as shudders and shivers of heat wormed their way through her body. Soon the teenager was warm from her vestigial looking hands to her almost non-existent feet as the appendages shriveled and melted away. Stacy's arms creaked as the bones settled into new positions, her one toned limbs now ending in bony points. The rest of her skeleton shifted as well as her anatomy became decidedly avian, and the cheerleader heard her stomach grumble as her organs dissolved into stuffing and meat.

"So hungry..." She muttered, still unaware of what was happening to her. Stacy's new body then began to shrink and bloat simultaneously; her body becoming small within the tanning bed, but her mass puffed upwards and outwards. Her thighs become enormously round as they morphed into drumsticks, her breasts merged into her torso and added their substantial size to her new singular breast. Her arms remained bony however, and the final piece of her humanity, her head, began to collapse into her plump new body, her hair sizzling away into drops of greasy fat onto the surface of the tanning bed. Stacy's bikini was the last thing to go, the blue fabric simply fading out of existence, leaving her small, naked, and no longer looking anything like the attractive girl she had been moments ago.

"Turn the heat down mom..." Were the last words that Stacy ever said as her head became nothing more than excess fat hanging off the front of the large, cooked turkey she had become. The final change to her body was the darkening of her skin as it turned a delicious looking golden brown, and the smell of seasoned meat flood the tanning bed. There was no trace of the cheerleader left, save for the bikini tan lines left on the turkey's body. Even the tanning bed was not safe from the magical changes, as a deep tray materialized beneath the turkey's slowly cooking body, aluminium foil catching the droplets of grease and fat as they boiled off the food product as it now sat on a metal grate hanging in the middle of it's new interior.. The tanning bed itself shrank, going from a large rectangle to a cube, the upper lights segmenting into small recesses that protected it from the broiling heat that was coming from the glowing red metal heating element the lower lights had merged into. The tanning bed fused together, with the only opening now at the front. The new oven was dark, hot, and thanks to the cooking turkey, smelled absolutely delicious.A little while later, Sharon opened the oven's door and took the finished turkey out and set it on top of the stove.

"Mmm, smells great!" She said, satisfied, never realizing she was gazing at the cooked remains of her former daughter. But Stacy had never existed now, only the turkey that sizzled and popped in front of the housewife. She frowned as she looked at the strange tan lines on the turkey's body, but shrugged it off; the oven was pretty old and hadn't been used in at least a decade, probably longer. The amount of people coming had meant using every oven available. But the meat looked and felt cooked so it didn't bother her too much, Sharon would just take a picture of it upstairs for Facebook. She hummed to herself as she took the meal upstairs to join the other turkeys on the dinner table.

Sharon heard a roar of men's voices from the den as she marched up the stairs, and rolled her eyes. She and her mom were busying preparing all thise wonderful food, yet her sons and husband were content to watch football! If only she had a daughter to help her out!
