Remembering David Lynch

In many ways I cannot imagine all the years of my life without the works of David Lynch spread throughout them. I talked about some of his work in my livestream.

It might be fun to host a "David Lynch Festival Noir", featuring Blue Velvet, Lost Highway & Mulholland Drive (in that order). RIP DL

I never understood the hate people had for Lynch's Dune. I never read the books (maybe that helps!) but I've always enjoyed Dune and I've watched just about every version that's come along, up to and including Dune: Prophecy. I liked them all, but I really enjoyed Lynch's version. OK, maybe the script wasn't so great, but as you said, the casting and the visuals were superb! Kyle will always be Paul Atreides to me.

Agreed 100% as to The Elephant Man, and as you say, there are “Lynchian” scenes especially the opening and closing shots with the mother. Mel Brooks is owed much credit for recognizing Lynch’s talent from Eraserhead and selecting him to direct Elephant Man. DL will be missed.

Nooooooo. 😭

I loved Dune visually. The Giedi Prime scenes actually reminded me of much of industrial Merseyside that I grew up with, the likes of Stanlow, Weston Point, Ditton, Bank Quay.
