Smithsonian Must Now Ban Project Egress!

Really? It's the law! All work by Transpeople and any mention of their names must be removed from public display - that is the Executive Order - so sorry to inform you Smithsonian, but you're in violation showing off the amazing Team Savage Project Egress reproduction hatch at the Air and Space Museum. I hate to be the one to break it to you - because I'm the one who helped build it! And thank you again to Team Savage for making that possible.

Rare TeKaDe Mini Mechanical Indicator

Thanks to viewer Oskar for sending in this little gem! This little mechanical wonder was part of the German telephone system back in the mid-20th century. Made By TeKaDe (Süddeutsche Telefonapparate Kabel und Drahtwerke) it is a hand-made marvel to behold. Let's take a close look!

OmniRay Sphericular Display - Craziest Of Them All?

This very ambitious and just out there crazy Sphericular Display was developed by Burroughs to directly compete with the IEE One Plane Readout displays with a really inventive and obviously difficult to pull off complex lens assembly.

2025

Freedom of speech and religion ruins the afternoon of thousands in Philly on Pride Day. So what else is new? This is America - and the guy with the megaphone speaks for the powers that be. Say - did you notice how tolerant and non-violent queer people are? I hope so.

Thanks For Your Help!

So many thanks to all of you who chipped in to my GoFundMe for Healthcare in 2025! I am overwhelmed by your generosity and incredible support for myself and my work. Now that the bills will be paid, I have to shift my focus back to the bench where you and I both want it. Thanks so much!

Should We Worry About Plastics & Aluminum?

The best answer is probably that there is little if anything that we can do about it, but the longer answer might be that there's really no way to know one way the another. Enjoy!

Here's To My Health (A Quiet GoFundMe)

Fran's Healthcare For 2025 - https://gofund.me/34f568a2 Doing FranLab on YouTube is my full time job, but my personal healthcare costs are killing my finances. FranLab is 100% viewer supported, but it was never intended to take care of my mounting medical expenses, and the cost of dealing with my personal health issues has become an increasingly serious burden on FranLab to the point were I must try to reach out for some side-support to cover these growing costs. I did manage to get some decent health insurance this year, but it is not cheap, and the out of pocket expenses for things that are not covered have also added up. If can get enough support in this very personal area then the burden will be lifted off of the Patrons who intend for their funds to go to making content for the FranLab channel, as it should be. I thank all of you who support the weird and occasionally interesting things that I do and the videos I produce, and thank you for helping me out with these necessary and unavoidable health care costs. Without you, I could not do any of this.
