Lumitime Automaton Mechanical Digital Clock
Added 2024-10-22 20:28:37 +0000 UTCFinally - after weeks of tinkering with the Lumitime CL-130 Light Emitting Digital Clock I finally have some success. Here I get the motor going once and for all, and get the cams greased for a super goozy clock. Enjoy!

Clock motors were very inefficient. About 4 watts of mostly heat. However, I wonder how much more power a true LED clock of that era drew.

2024-10-25 10:29:07 +0000 UTCMy sister had one of these, and I hated it at the time because digital was new and exciting and I felt this cheated. Later, though, I was fascinated by it, and that's the feeling that remains to this day because now digital seems like the "too easy" way to go. I even created a GIF of the "sunburst" thing (though I didn't quite get it right).
