FYI - You CAN burn the candle on all three ends.

It was a genuine moment, so I kept it in unedited!

My understanding is that they make the cameras so small so that they can be inserted into a disposable housing that is still fine enough to get through the parts of the body that they need to, so the 'guts' are reused and the outer sleeves are disposed. But I guess that process takes a toll on the innards, so companies exist that just maintain and replace the cameras and cables periodically.

I remember those in a candle flame shaped bulb, designed to run relatively cooler, and the motion of the filament simulating a flickering flame. Often a string of lights for Christmas decoration or eight in a menorah for Hanukkah.

Great meter tear-down Fran! I knew you would shoot all those close-ups of how it was made. It's not what I expected to see. I don't see any way around it. Those had to be hand assembled in the USA. I can't believe they made it work that way. Lenses, mirrors and simple meter movement. How did they get the alignment of that tiny piece of film right? I can only imagine what it would cost labor-wise if they made those meters today. I was unable to find any old data on those meters. The tiny cameras were truly incredible! But one question kept coming to mind. Are these used once and discarded or are they sterilized and used on many patients? I can't see those cameras surviving an autoclave procedure. Those cameras looked like the ones you see in spy movies snaking through an air conditioning vent or dropped ceiling tile.

Aww the pause of confusion at the duplicate package really amused me. Your viewers are the coolest. I can't believe how miniature the numbers are on the film inside that meter.

Your fans send in the BEST stuff!

In the last livestream you said not to expect videos showing something likely not seen before, and then you release this!

David Peaker

Fran you must be the hardest working YouTuber right now, I have noticed the increased frequency of your uploads (which we appreciate!), and I am thoroughly entertained by the topics and drill downs. Thanks.

I remember having one of those as a kid in the 80s!

I saw a bulb on eBay I remember from the 1970's. It's a 120V 60Hz incandescent bulb with a floppy filament surrounding a magnet. The filament flops around when it is on. It was supposed to be, like, psychedelic. Maybe you have one, or ten, already. If not I'll search it up, buy it, and send it to you if it is still there and if you are interested.
