InfoAge Computer Exhibit Walking Tour

My visit at VCF East 2024 - they had a lot of vintage computers up and running, all of which you can play and program.... Enjoy!

Ah, nostalgia. I still have bits of CDC 6600 and Cray 1 around as well as my running BBC Micro.

When I was in junior high, we started to learn programming on Apple IIes. I love old-school technology much. There was an exhibit like this at the Museum of the Moving Image, years ago. I was literally moved to tears by it.

I had a Lobo Max 80 in the early 80's. I had to design & program a display character set so I could use a monitor to see what I was typing. I chose to design a script character set. Hey...why not? It had a big external box that held dual 8" floppy drives. I replaced it with an original Macintosh 128 when it came out in 1984. I took the Mac to work, and people would line up outside my office at lunchtime to get a chance to explore MacWrite & MacPaint using a mouse. Heady times indeed.

I wish I had been able to save all the computer hardware I had that came before the IBM PC. But it never seemed likely that most of it would ever become rare or worth the space. And some of what I've owned that I knew was worth saving is gone for other reasons.

I never knew Arthur C Clarke used a Kaypro computer. I also don't know what a Kaypro computer is.
