Wow! I've never seen a communist 7 segment display before! The MIL-SPEC LEDs are pretty cool. I've had some that actually have a very fine metal screen molded right into the lens. Gotta keep that digital stuff running even after a nuclear EMP event. I've also seen the built-in metal screens on a lot of incandescent lamp caps. But most of it dates back to the cold war and I don't really see that very often anymore. So much of that wonderful overbuilt and expensive MIL-SPEC stuff has vanished since the cold war ended. The Tube Map was cool as well! I got a paper transit map from the CTA (Chicago Transit Authority) in 1989 and I still have it up on a wall. Since then they've changed the whole system and now the routes are defined by colors. I like the map I grew up with. They had to make great prints of these maps on paper and that's increasingly a lost art.
