Visual Perception In Driving (1978)

Another 16mm film from my collection that has some 70's high tech in it!      As usual I transferred this reel with my own Telecine and corrected  as best I could.  Enjoy!

The copyright monster strikes again!

Dr Andy Hill

Wonderful incandescent digital displays! Sunlight readable. I wonder how the drivers with the head gear were thinking clearly after they used wood screws to secure the eye-motion apparatus to his skull? That wasn't in the description for this acting gig. Oh, how I miss the smell of leaded gas in the morning....

I wouldn't want to have an accident wearing an eye movement recording system, I think loss of teeth would be inevitable even at parking speeds, anything faster doesn't bear thinking about. And they even plied subjects with alcohol to see what would happen while wearing it! Health and safety was very different in 70s, although reading about some of the experiments with self driving cars, maybe not.
