Visiting Boeing's New Space Exhibit

I finally got a chance to take a look at the new Wondrous Space exhibit  that was recently opened at the Franklin Institute here in Philadelphia.   It cost a bundle to create, takes up much of two floors, and is  intended for the kids, but if you're an adult this extravaganza might  not contain the kinds of things you would expect it to.

If they believe the colours are necessary to grab kids attention but were really clever they could at least have added a button to provide a couple of minutes of colour-neutral light for grabbing a picture.

The Boeing 737-MAX version of a space exhibit. I have my own flat screen monitors at home. Why would I go there to simply stand in front of a larger one? That floor of "interactive" LCDs would be incredibly uninspiring and I would want out of it as quickly as possible. The lighting color change effects on actual artifacts is actually a severe barrier to knowing what the actual artifact looks like in its own natural state under white light. What color is this thing? The lights keep waving color all over the place so you might get a few "white lit" transitions for a few seconds if you're willing to wait. The engine is cool. That's a real artifact. Along with some others. Unless the place was crammed with true space technology artifacts, even just stuff like a computer box from a Space Shuttle, than I could marvel at all the ingenious design beauty of space-rated hardware. I wish I saw the old exhibit to compare to the Boeing version. Good tour, but it's not on my "bucket list".
