Lumitime Clock Maintenance

Yes I understand that, but you don't go as far as returning each screw to the exact same hole?

Dr Andy Hill

I wonder if it'd be worth stripping it down fully to give the contacts some direct attention. Six months doesn't seem all that long after it's been treated with deoxit. In my experience that stuff lasts ages. Or maybe, adding some low temperature solder to the spring contact tips?

Shoka

I keep the same type in the same hole because the thread pitch and depth are different.

I've never seen a clock like that before. Interesting. Do you think there's any mileage in ensuring that self-tepper screws go back in the same hole? Or is that just a step too far, and just unnecessary?

Dr Andy Hill

I wonder if replacement wheels might be a doable thing? 3d print+custom PCBs?

Douglas Biggers

I think for a long lasting repair you need to reapply the gold plating on the wheel and the contact wipers. That would be tricky. Has the Deoxit a contact oil component in it? Otherwise a special contact oil might be help because it doesn’t evaporate. But it’s always a risk because of the nearby plastic elements.

Was this originally a Japanese clock? I was looking on eBay and saw a couple there. It's probably not in my immediate budget, LOL. It would be cool to display in my office though!
