Excellent Fran. Spot on! Wish many could hear and understand. Love the Pee-wee Herman doll.

Now if you wanted a warship, then no problem, the Pepsi company had a couple of those by trading 'in nature' with the USSR. XD

The further death of civics classes occurred recently, when it was banned due to it showing revenge p*rn via C-SPAN to minors. XD

Fran, if you really want to go with the "nuclear option" try talking about gun control. As a normal US civilian, you can already buy an assault rifle. But someone drew the line at fully automatic weapons and I think that's when machine guns became so popular in the 20s/30s with organized crime. Some would argue that we should have the right to buy any weapons we want from pistols up to Stinger missiles. Remember the infamous Pepsi ad campaign in the 90s that said if you had 7 million "Pepsi Points" you could claim your very own AV-8B Harrier military jet? They didn't put a disclaimer up with the Harrier in the commercial so some guy figured out how to purchase enough "Pepsi Points", per the Pepsi rules, and asked for the Harrier. It made financial sense because the several million dollars to buy the "Pepsi Points" paled in comparison to the actual cost of a Harrier jet. That actually went through the courts and there have been wonderful documentaries on the whole story. People were forced to take this claim seriously and even called their state representatives to see if it was legal to own your own Harrier. No one was prepared to answer this stupid question all the way up the government chain, except to say it can't be "weaponized". This litigation went on for a very long time and finally someone in the Defense Department (NOT the President of the USA) said No, there is no version of a Harrier that isn't a weapon. McDonnell Douglas required at least 6 to be ordered to actually add them to the production line. Plus the effort to make a demilitarized version would cost hundreds of millions. So, no, you can't buy your very own brand new AV-8B or F-15 regardless of how much money you have. So, you're absolutely right about agencies controlling what people can have and the President can't be bothered with stupid questions like "Why can't we build our own Death Star?" Yes, a bunch of people got together and got a petition to propose we build our very own Death Star to protect us from future alien invasions. After the White House ignored this petition for a long time, they finally came up with a response to the effect of "It would take more materials available on Earth to build a Death Star and it is not the policy of this administration to build a weapon capable of eliminating entire civilizations." So, machine guns, AV-8Bs and Death Stars are in the category of "no, you can't have that" And multiple agencies made those decisions. But enough people are dumb enough to ask for such things and I;m also tired of the President having to answer to things like "Tungsten Lights" as if he made a career out of research and development of electric lighting and came to the conclusion on his own that LEDs are far superior to 100 watt tungsten lights. So do we march on Washington protesting the right to buy power-hungry, HOT and inefficient incandescent light bulbs? I guess that would be the second parade after the Death Star protest.
