How Many Subscribers Do I Really Have?

Comments

Hi Fran! Just a quick message to say - take as long as you need, we'll still be here. Love from Liverpool! 8o)

I would assume that YouTube doesn't care about the content of the section that's being skipped only that most skip it, and that might result in fewer suggestions for it, if large swaths are skipped it's going to rank it as lower engagement.

In order to keep up on all my subs(and barely even that) I listen/watch at 1.75x, and skip right past most post scrolls. This means I'm cutting your patreon scroll time off of each video. and that has to make a deep cut, especially on your shorter videos.

Have you tried reducing the outro to like ten seconds max to see if that's part of the issue? You might be being rate limited for padding.

Fran, is there anywhere that I can find a listing of your videos? I for one would like to browse them but haven't a clue how to go about it.

Thank you for sharing. Very interesting.

Embarrassing admission: I found your channel from your UAP videos πŸ˜…. I have a chemical engineering background but have made a weekly habit of watching your videos with my 75 yr old electrical engineering dad. Enjoy them all even though a lot goes over my head. Thanks for your content! Maybe one of these days I'll pick up a learning kit so that I can follow along better with the technical info.

I can't remember how I came across my first Fran video on YouTube. I'm not a patron to anyone else and I only subscribe to a few very niche urban exploration and documentary channels. Whatever I searched for was so obscure, but relevant, that it hit one of your videos. I really had no idea just how much complexity was behind YouTube and how you get paid from ad revenue and such. I don't think I would have any idea how to manage a communications tool with millions of members and users coming and going every minute. The virtually limitless interests humans have, and now can share, is daunting. How does anyone rise above the noise? I think you do really well. Your videos are informative, fun and can be on all kinds of topics. I'm usually working on projects away from my computer, so I really have no interest in finding channels similar to yours. I get just the right "dose" of classic tech, music and other topics from your excellent channel. I guess I just don't need to watch 50 videos per day. There's so many projects to build! Keep on keeping on and, as patrons, we'll help all we can.

I'm up to 256 subscribers. :-p

Enable closed-captions, as that will make your videos text-searchable and thus indexable and more likely to show up in Google results. Let the YT automated captioning do the first pass, then crowdsource corrections, so you'll only need to approve and post the final result.

Are there really no other alternatives to Youtube? What about Nebula? What about finding a way to funnel traffic to your Youtube video via google searches, don't know, but it just seems so unfair that you have to be subjected and at the whims of an inhuman algorithm. I'm certainly going to be watching you for as long as you produce content as I find it so interesting.
