So sad.. but the music lives on. In fact, it took me by surprise quite how many songs of his were covered by other artists. One that comes to mind is A Song for a Winters Night Here's the original https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfyDs6uXww0 And here is Sarah McLaclan version. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgtQUWkkr2I Thanks for posting.

I didn't even know we had lost him until now. "If you could read my mind" is my earliest music memory.

Dr Andy Hill

Oh, I remember his music all during the 70s growing up on AM radio. I agree with your childlike interpretation of his music. I had that too. Nothing threatening or loud from him. I didn't know he passed until your video. I'm glad he's getting the accolades he deserves. Getting to 90 years old? I don't expect to. Like you said "A good run".

Matt Wietlispach

Born in 1947, Baby Boomer, and live just south of Lake Erie. I miss Gordon Lightfoot very much.

If You Could Read My Mind is my favorite

Timothy P Elliott

As a Michigander, it hit me hard too. Grew up with him in the 60s and 70s and his MI connection with The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Got to see him in Detroit last year - he could still do great singing/playing to his great writing and singing those songs!
