Where Are The Stars????

You can't see the stars in the middle of the day.  Why is this such a confusing idea?

Where Are The Stars????

Comments

Incidentally, one piece of footage from the just completed Artemi I mission, shot by one of Orion engineering cameras, had aperture wide enough that some of the brightest stars were visible, if only just. Scott Manley pointed it out as a curiosity. Also, there is at least one photo from Apollo missions, with shadowed side of the LEM in front, where one or two stars can be discerned.

I couldn't help in the live chat poking you with a stick about the "missing stars", hoping you would do a short vid we could eventually pass around to edumicate the masses.

In Arthur C Clarke's 1961 book 'A Fall Of Moondust' he has a news cameraman on the moon using a special filter to show the stars, because that's what people expect to see. He anticipated this misconception at the dawn of the space age and 61 years later it's still with us. Depressing isn't it?

I really like how your audio sounds like the comms from our real space crafts.
