Going Deaf - Or Not - With Buds!

An important discussion about the ubiquitous acceptance of dangerous  sound levels and what that means for young people who stand to lose  their hearing before even getting to adulthood.  I speak form experience  - and I hope do deliver some good advice for those who want to  listen.... and still can.  Enjoy!

Going Deaf - Or Not - With Buds!

Comments

I started wearing ear plugs to concerts recently. The last concert I went to without them I was getting disoriented from both the stage and people screaming behind me. Any time people behind me screamed I’d lose balance. After I started wearing plugs I find I can not only hear the music better, but I don’t leave with ear pain or ringing. Never going back.

I have horrible tinnitus that interferes with my hearing. I've had tinnitus a long time, but only in the last 5 years or so has it gotten bad. And in the last two years it has made it hard to understand people. But I don't have hearing loss according to the exam I had five years ago. I had surgery four years ago for superior semicircular canal dehiscence in my right ear, which helped a lot. I need to go back for another exam, but I hate seeing doctors. Doctors never talk to me, only at me, and have no interest in helping. On top of this I'm super sensitive to sound, so everything is always too loud. Most of the medical professionals I've seen don't seem to understand this so will not even discuss it. I also have chronic pain so doctors in general want nothing to do with me and act like I have no idea what I'm talking about. I've been in this body for 45 years, I have a good idea what I'm talking about. For too many Disabled == incapable of taking care of yourself.
