Even as a man I find the apparent exclusion of women from many industries sickeningly unacceptable.

Fran, wow! I had no idea that the music industry had such a low "glass ceiling" for female electronic effects talent. I remember a woman told me the "glass ceiling" at McDonnell Douglas St. Louis was so low our knees hit it." That was back in 1990. It sounds like you might be hitting that glass ceiling with your ankles! But I think of your incredibly creative work as "timeless". Think about it... any song that uses one of our effects will be out in the music world forever! YOU made the effect, no matter how simple or complex, that made the song what it is as a whole. You're essentially immortal because what you did actually contributed to music that will outlive all of us. And, of course, your self-taught electronics ability is amazing in itself! There are no college courses in electrical engineering like "EF-101, Intro to Guitar Effect Analog Design." I had friends that were musicians and they had effects pedals and I was kind of surprised that they were not all made by Yamaha, Fostek, Korg, or some other well-known Japanese company. Most of them required the musician to us their foot to activate a push-button switch on the effects module. That explained why most of them were so scraped up. Each effects box added a crucial nuance to the instrument connected to it. Helping musicians be more creative through your technology has to be infinitely gratifying. What you made by hand was as creative as music itself! Your effects pedals will be passed from musician to musician indefinitely. You made a creative mark that can't be taken away. If any man tells you you can't build this equipment as well as men do, ask for the scientific proof. You wanted to to do it, you have the talent and creativity and you MADE them! With so many bands now on social media, perhaps a "gender-irrelevant" effects world will continue to grow?

I am so proud to be a patreon (albeit a small one) of a woman who was part of the Rock era, and was one of the Intuitive electronic engineers and pioneers of the amazing sounds we all now take for granted, that anyone with a computer can almost, but not quite reproduce to a certain degree. However, the real sound, that came from that little switch on the floor, that a simple click with a foot would change the sound of a basic guitar for ever- Especially because you majored in a predominantly male environment. One can only imagine the heartache you must have felt when the "Man" in the boss seat said no, just because of your gender. I wish this was gone forever and women were equal to men in all aspects- but unfortunately we still live in a world dominated by arseholes with small penises attached. You should hold your head up high, and say "Yeah.. I am Fran, and I made one of, if not the best reverb pedals ever"
