Chill Along With The OLDEST Working Light Bulb On YouTube!! (1896)

...and so was born the warm glow of artificial coals (at the base of a 2-bar electric fire). Now I guess LEDs are used to display a full screen hearth full of burning logs. The heat driven spinners and natural warm glow are a thing of flickering beauty. Chestnut anyone?

Collectors sometimes will give up an item, and that was the case for that one.

Fran Blanche

I think it is new extremely old stock. No signs of usage hours.

They don't make then like that anymore! I can't imagine in over 100 years time someone on YouTube slowly ramping up an old LED bulb from 2020s, for one it most certainly wouldn't be working, and if it was, I don't think anyone would be saying it was a thing of beauty.

Hey Fran! It's great Chillin with you! The bulb is absolutely incredible!!

Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing 💕

Carissa Vixen

Wow! Where do you even FIND things like that? You know, it would be fascinating to find out in an old newspaper ad what bulbs cost back in the 1890s, then adjust it for inflation. A trillion bulbs later, you can still get them! Very cool video! I felt the anxiety as the power was coming up. I didn't want to see it burn out. I would have quit where you did myself.

Matt Wietlispach

PLEASE add an outro of you carrying the bulb off camera, followed by the sound of breaking glass, then cut to black. Please?

BobC

Neat to see such an old bulb, even more that its a 240V one due to the challenges of the higher voltage filament.

That was vary interesting Fran. I have never seen a old bulb like that before. 👍

Woah, cool!!

Fran, you have an amazing collection of stuff. You must have been pretty lucky to be in the right place at the right time to get that lamp. Thanks for sharing.

David Blake

Very little darkening, so I'm thinking it hasn't seen much use! Very cool!!

The original. And best. All hail the incandescent glow

It's a wonder all the electrons haven't leaked out in 125 years. What, that's not how they work?

David Peaker

thanks hope your well

Richard Vickers

lol, thought there was something venting in or out the bulb, but it's the ceiling fan reflecting

Ooooh! :)
