OMG... So much work!

Oh.  I soooo underestimated the number of hours it would take to complete this console!  I thought it would NEVER come together and am just so numb from the whole process.  Oh - so much footage to boil down.... I am not looking forward to editing this video at all. Part One has about 30% of the views I expected from that subject after two weeks.  It is interesting that the most vocal comments I get about my content are complaints that I do too much talk about YouTube and stats and algorithms and whatnot, but all of that content gets 2-3 times the views and comments that one of these long arc project videos gets.  The issue is that YouTube no longer suggests my project themed videos outside of my loyal subscribership.  The only videos I make that ever go "out on the road" anymore are the rants.  It seems true that if all I ever had done were the electronics and project videos I'd have about 30K subs.  The other 70k came because of and for the rants.  This is just a fact.  So I'll edit and launch this next video this week, but with a project I started in July coming to a close in the end of October and with part one at less than 10% sub viewership it does not hold out too much hope for the future of my channel if I'm doing time intensive long projects.  Which is of course what I want to do!!

OMG... So much work!

Looks fab!

Dear Fran! Whatever you decide, I will keep my eyes on your work. I like the posts of youtube, twitter and frantone.com but I most love the contourcorsets.com because it is heartfelt. I wish you much perseverance in your work! Arnold

Ooh ... Dutch please. Very stylish.

This is why i have no reward for my "MVVblog KITT" channel even if some videos are over a million view. Too much complicated and long project, in the meantime my little and simple "MVVblog" channel, where i made illogic , fun, simple and non sense projects is doing very well. Anyway your project is terrific and wonderful!

Looks really good Fran. Looking forward to watching the video.

My projects take me weeks if not month to do. I'd always imagined that should I do a Youtube presentation of such projects that I would been inclined to do weekly report videos. The catch would be to make these videos a miniature project. Hope that makes sense.

(My last attempt to post this apparently failed.) I'll endeavor to share more of your project videos from here on out. Thanks for all you do, Fran.

Doing large projects with weekly updates videos (eg, Wintergatan Wednesdays) seems to be the only way to keep up interest on YouTube. The algorithms there are very tuned to short term. Which means that “disappear for a month and the emerge with a documentary length video” only works if you’ve got some other means of getting the word out to a large audience that does not rely on YouTube. (Other than that, blue sky labs typically are funded from a little of the surplus of some very profitable business — Bell Labs, Xerox PARC, etc. Everyone else is deadline / progress milestone driven to a lesser or greater degree.). Fran, keep up with the great work! 2001 is one of, if not my favorite movies of all time. I have a 12" and a 30 some inch model of Discovery, as well as a scratch-built Discovery based on the novel's description. I also have two models of the TWA Orion Space Plane (one out of the box build and one super detailed) and one 1/8 scale EVA pod that I'm super detailing with working screens and lights. I even built a steampunk style HAL-900 (that's not a typo) eye panel. I absolutely love the detail you put into your work. I fully understand that it takes work... lots of work to get it right. And getting it right takes time. Take all the time you need to get it as close as possible to the original.

It just means you need to master the _dark_ art of clickbait."TOP 11.4 Movie Language Buttons Pressed CHALLENGE "

Have you considered to try to join watchnebula.com too? A lot of educators are uploading there in addition to YouTube because they too don't like to be dragged around by the mighty algorithm. And a lot of viewers hate it too. You will not gain anything in the short run but you will help building an alternative to YouTube for educational videos. And for now you'll have to do some more Frants to please the algorithm. It sucks but seem to be the current reality.
