Chris Kraft dies two days after Apollo 50 anniversary

He invented Mission Control and stood as overseer to a quarter century of human spaceflight.   I am glad he lived to see the 50th.  A damn good ride.

95 is a good innings but still so sad over this news.

What a legend.

So long, Chris. Sorry we didn't go further down the road you paved for us. Instead of Outer Space we got MySpace.

Saw this on BBC News today, sad loss. Part of a team and time that made human history. My Mum & Dad woke me in the small hours to watch the landing, I was 3!

Kraft's book 'Flight' details how they had to invent mission control from scratch and how he became the first flight director, it's well worth reading.

I'm glad he lived to celebrate the 50th anniversary. I've spent the last month re-reading my NASA related books, he featured as one of the main men in all of them.
