We've never had that sort of cable access TV here in Australia, so I've never seen it myself, but the one thing on YouTube that I kinda get that feeling of desperation with is the Because Science live streams. It's just Kyle Hill standing there in the void, being asked questions about science or pop culture from the audience, and having to come up with an explanation of how something works or whatever off the top of his head. It's pretty fun, and sometimes goes places you wouldn't expect! Also, happy International Women's day!

Oooh - a new medium :o) Nice (sometimes) not to be tied to the laptop screen, and be in 'radio' mode. I'd listen to FranCasts, as long as they were easy to get at - if it's only on iTunes for eg, I won't hear it - an mp3 link in a YT description would be easy.

“Fran on the Go”. Great with earbud not tied to watching screen.

I liked the podcast. If you do more it’d be great to have it somewhere with a RSS feed that my pod catcher Dan subscribe to. A bunch I listen to are on libsyn and some others are on Soundcloud with the RSS feed feature turned on (not the default on Soundcloud, but definitely always there on libsyn). There’s probably also blog software plugins if you want to host it yourself. Ewen

Loved it! Public access was great for the reasons you said. I still have a Laser Disk player and disks, but need to convert them. I think that there were as many VHS and Beta taped material. The libraries were the place to find the fringe stuff.

There are streaming buffering issues for me, your server likely won't have the bandwidth if this gets popular (even a few hundred people at once can be a big bandwidth issue). So you might want to look into a CDN host, we use Libsyn for the Amp Hour, and it auto uploads to iTunes and other places.
