New Lease For FranLab!

Thanks everybody for keeping FranLab alive!

New Lease For FranLab!

Comments

If you need help moving, give a shout out. Congratulations - great news!

Great news. Happy that it worked out fine. All the best.

Wow, this is excellent news! Congratulations!

I was one of the subs that stuck around when you quit and I don't plan on leaving now. You should ask for some other channels to help with content when you go into full move mode.

Zach Allin

That's great news! Hurray for Fran!

Congratulations! Good to see you smiling again. Good luck in your new digs.

It's a slightly smaller space but it will do. I much more would have preferred not to move at all, but.... oh well.

Fran Blanche

The apartments are mostly all demolished. Maybe have to deal with another week of it next year, who knows.

Fran Blanche

Things move much slower in Philly than in the pressure cooker that is your office complex Dave. ☺

Fran Blanche

It's a fair deal - it gets rolled in eventually.

Fran Blanche

Thanks for chipping in, I appreciate it!

Fran Blanche

The street is always cheaper, this is true.

Fran Blanche

I am sorry, but I just can't see blowing a huge wad of money just to be able to rent space in a lease that will expire eventually.

That is very pleasing knowing where your future is going to be and the donations came in handy. With all the building works and noise I don't expect much videos. It is going to be a good Christmas.

MrMobodies

That's excellent news!! I look forward to seeing new stuff done in the new space. Have yourself a merry little Christmas (seems like it's off to a good start)!!

Ken Klavonic

Very good news Fran ! That's opened up a door to a new era of Franlab :o)

I'm very happy for you. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Great news. Have a merry Christmas and look forward to your new lab

Simon Mikkelsen

That's excellent news Fran. You have a merry Christmas :)

Piero Davies

Congratulations, Fran: I know you'll make that new space "fabulous".... Hope your Christmas is Merry, and peaceful.

One more thing: I am truly happy for you. I mean really happy, like I was more concerned than I was aware of being. Who you are and what you do matters, and I'm so very glad your way is clear to keep doing it!

BobC

To keep the Patreon funds rolling in, how about doing what EEVblog Dave did, with a walk-through of the empty new place, and time lapses of the destruction of the old and the construction of the new? I bet Dave would love to come out and help, if you'll play Philly Tour Guide for the family...

BobC

We are relieved to hear it. Thanks for the update and good luck with the reconfig.

Michael S Wilhelm

The new space didn't find itself anymore than the contributions just appeared out of thin air -- thank *you* for sticking with it, through this stressful time, and getting sh*t done so all this can continue. <3

Travis Snoozy

I'm terrible Fran, forgot to wish you a Merry Christmas. Ho, ho, ho! ☃️ 🎁

Bruce, I love your idea. I'm not into ham but I am a guitar player. I'd love to see something along those lines. It's a shameless plug for Frantone but I'm a huge fan of the Frantone Brooklyn drive. Fran know how to design great guitar pedals.

I'm relieved, Fran. When it's time to move, take your time. We'll wait. It will be crazy hard though, because we'll want to see your new space. Clearly, your first vid after the move needs to be a tour of the new lab. I hope there's enough left in the GFM for Two Men and a Truck to help you move some of the less delicate stuff. I know you'll have to pay tax on that cash, which is a bummer but it can't be avoided I guess. Anyway, if you need a bit more, open the GFM again. We can spare a bit more I'm sure.

My guess is they wanted 6-12 months up front to sign up the way Fran wanted the deal structured. Definitely sounded like way more than first/last/security deposit from the way Fran talked about it in the video. Ewen

Fantastic news! I'm so happy for you. It must be a great feeling to enter the new year with that stress behind you.

Kurt Higgins

Phew! A 3+3 year lease sounds like a great option to have got. It’s a bit sad you have to put up with 3 more months of “destruction” (or “destructed”) around you, but I understand the desire not to move in the middle of winter! Glad our GoFundMe contributions helped make this an option. Ewen

How much is the rent? Usually when you sign a lease you put down the first and last month's rent. You mention that this took a large part of your funds raised, which was $46,000 say a large part is half = $23,000 for first and last, or rent of $12,500 per month. How well are you to carry the rent - or was the deposit demanded a lot bigger?

bill jackson

We have a new lease on Fran! (Someone had to say it. 🤣😜😂)

Michael Aichlmayr

Is the large deposit a security deposit which you eventually get back, or up-front rent? (or both?)

EEVblog

W00T! But March? We want it NOW!

EEVblog

Now that things are settling down, may I ask of you a small favor? Please consider that we (many viewers, I feel) would appreciate "things which we can replicate or learn from" as subjects for you to film. Many of us are builders... we LOVE it like you do. Something which contains a challenge to build makes such a brilliant move on your part! As a ham radio operator, I love things in this direction... but someone else might better go the audio route and want to "make something cool" for home, fun or frolic. Just something to think about as you set up your lab. [Go measurement projects! Ways to "do things right" is a great direction, also.] Happy First Day of Winter!

Bruce Havourd

Congratz! :D

Jessica McIntosh

Wow, great news!

ZOMFG. YES!!!

lohphat

Great news Fran! I hope my smallish donation helped. I didn't realise gofundme is linked to FaceBook. I would have donated a different way...

Paul Hill

Congrats, Fran!

Pete Cervasio

This is awesome, I'm so happy for you and for FranLab!!

TomArnd

I'da been shit outta luck is what. Yea...

Fran Blanche

Awesome! Bit of good news for a change, nice coming up to Christmas too. What would you actually have done without the GoFundMe though? What does the average person do? It's crazy.

Yay! What a relief!
