Since fiber is out, what about DSL? You should be able to get that since it uses the existing twisted pair phone lines and you have a dedicated line to the switch. ISDN may be an option, I know that it also uses the existing copper but that's all I know about it.

Ouch! Is there no-one lives or works near your shop with cable you can piggyback off with a wireless bridge? We've done that with a few clients and it works pretty well, provided you have good, unobstructed line of sight

Sorry to hear about all your streaming woes. Just did my first live stream test this evening, and it worked just fine. I'm extremely lucky to have one of the only truly unlimited 4G LTE-A services in Australia. No download/upload quota, no data pools, no throttling, just raw speed.
The stream was surprisingly solid, I don't think I had any dropped frames. Still have to play around with the encoder settings though, as the playback didn't look great at only 3.5Mbps for 720p60. (It's game streaming, so I guess I'm one of those young people you mentioned! ;)
In any case, 4G would only really be a good alternative if you can get a decent amount of data for a reasonable price. At the low end of YouTube's recommended bitrate for 1080p, you're still looking at 1.3GB/hour; even at half that for 720p, it could get expensive very quickly. And that's assuming you have good coverage.
Anyway, I did like the more casual update format, even if the news wasn't so great. It was fun to get a sneak-peak at some upcoming videos.

What about using an cellular connection? I live out in the woods here in Norway But have an 200gig a month dataplan. Does not sound like a lot but it’s quite some hours of YouTube and Netflix a month. I never run out and use it a lot. Is there no similar service? LTE(4G) speeds here is 140mbit down and 45 MBit up.

Thanks for the update, Fran. I could really feel your frustration. I *loved* the ending to this video, though - Super!

Fran, you can always move here to Raymond Alberta Canada, get some Canadian freedom and 1gb Internet (that is down and up).
