Dev Diary, October 10th, 2025

Remember last week, I thought the GOG version was ready and good to go? Well, long story short, I've got to stop jinxing myself like that.

In total, I spent almost two days trying to fix the achievements, where the newest GOG libraries didn't work well with Renpy's libraries. In addition to that, what worked for other testers, didn't work for me.

In the end, at 2 AM the day before the release, I basically said fuck it, and sent the final build. And to my surprise, the GOG QA found the achievements to be working. All in all, a few days thrown out the window.

Since I know there are a few developers amongst my patrons, I'll include the GOG fix at the end of this post. If you're here as a player only, please ignore it. :)

But, back to episode 5 progress reporting, it hasn't been a complete dud week. Got 150 renders done, and looking forward to doing more without distractions this time.

For the preview, mostly showing Wibble's custom 3d asset I commissioned for this episode.

Lastly, the downloads page has been updated with the newest version of U4iA, including the Guide/Helper DLC.

Have a lovely weekend, and stay safe out there.

------------GOG Achievement fix --------------

1. if you're building your Steam version with Steam SDK 1.62, you can't use the GOG Steam Wrapper 1.62. Use 1.60 instead.

2. If your game is any other than Renpy 8.3.7, make a build with 8.3.7 (can be the tutorial game, doesn't matter, but remember to install Steam support first), and replace the following files from that build with your build.

- renpy/common/00steam.rpy
- renpy/common/00steam.rpyc
- lib/python3.9/steamapi.pyc

3. If you're using the same save location for your Steam version and your GOG version, the persistent file will overload the GOG library trying to unlock every achievement you have on your Steam version at once. Use a different folder, or remove the persistent file (appdata, saves/ and turn off cloud saves) before testing.

Hey Drifty, I don’t know if it’s because I played the whole season already but I have the ‘stop skipping at DLC screens’ option checked to yes in the game but I still notice that the game skips over the dev notes and stuff. Not sure if that’s supposed to happen
