Happy New Year to you all, and thank you for the one that just ended. It seems we all survived another trip around the sun.
I thought I'd start the new year by giving some insight about this mechanic you've most probably seen by now.

The heart choice is romantic, and the kiss is the 'friends with benefits' option. The reason these choices were introduced was because we all like to play the game differently. Some go for the gotta-catch them all, and some go for a pure single-girl route.
But what does it mean?
Firstly, choosing one or the other is not 'choosing a girl'. If you remember, in Leap of Faith, you chose a girl to experience the story with and were bound by that choice until the end of the game. In U4iA, think of it as how the girl remembers that specific moment you got this love/flirty option.
An example: At the Never Have I Ever game, Samantha asks you what you think about threesomes. You can accept the flirty option and agree you'd like that. This will tell the game you're interested in Samantha, and not necessarily as a traditional option, and set you on course to (by now should be obvious) Sam and the other girl she hangs out with a lot.
Later on, while on the date with Samantha, things are a bit more romantic, and you're presented with the Love option, which will set you on the path to a 'Sam only' playthrough.
So what if you chose both? It just means Sam's a bit confused about what you want, and you'll be presented with other choices later. You can't have both, as intimate scenes can sometimes happen simultaneously, and ultimately, you can't have several endings with the same girl in the same playthrough.
Choosing love/flirt happens several times with each girl during the game. 100%'ing all of the 'love' or 'flirty' choices for a girl aren't needed for the outcome, but a tool for me to figure out what content to serve you.
They don't always lead to the traditional 'I love you', or 'heck yeah, gimme some of that' options, but let me experiment with untraditional content - examples of that especially with Ana and the Vivienne situation, which you'll see in the upcoming episode.
Can I hurt girls' feelings with my choices?
Yes. But that'll mostly be on you, as the game will hint towards what a girl does not tolerate/like. If you actively go against that, it can definitely hurt a girl. But the game is very forgiving, and you're on an exotic island somewhere in the Caribbean. The 'try before you buy' is definitely an option, as well as going for that one-girl pure route.
There's also a Yolo route, and I'd recommend playing it just for the heck of it, as it will give you content you wouldn't otherwise see - in a more humorous way.
But I'm a romantic guy. I want one girl!
Don't worry. I've got your back. In Season 2, you'll be presented with an option to go into an active relationship with a girl. This way, you play the game with her as your girlfriend. I think this is a nice way of offering you different content, as it allows you to treat your girl differently with how you behave around her and (God forbid) handholding and such.
Temptations will still be thrown your way, though.
Anyway, enough babbling from me. See you next week, and stay healthy out there.
