[OP Marine Officer Luffy] Chapter 501- 505
Added 2025-04-09 01:00:01 +0000 UTCChapter 501: Luffy's Breakthrough
"Damn it! When I get back this time, I'll definitely report him to Fleet Admiral Sengoku and demand he deduct all of this bastard's salary and vacation time," Akainu growled, his fist clenched tight as magma dripped between his fingers.
The battlefield around him was chaos incarnate. Marine soldiers scrambled for cover as the sky above darkened ominously. Zeus, Big Mom's thundercloud homie, had unleashed a devastating assault that even an Admiral couldn't ignore.
These weren't ordinary lightning bolts. They possessed their own consciousness—a terrifying extension of Big Mom's soul-infusing powers. They required neither Zeus's direct command nor any navigational assistance. Each bolt seemed alive, hunting its target with unnerving precision, changing direction mid-fall until striking with devastating accuracy.
The meteor shower that Akainu had painstakingly prepared—a technique that had required immense concentration and stamina—was systematically destroyed. One by one, his magma projectiles were intercepted and shattered by the sentient lightning, reducing them to nothing more than superheated rocks that plummeted harmlessly into the churning sea below.
Even now, the aerial battle continued unabated. Each time a new lava bomb materialized in the sky, these lightning creatures—not particularly intelligent but single-minded in their purpose—would rush toward it, neutralizing the threat. It wasn't until the magma completely dissipated that the thunderclouds began to recede, if only slightly.
It was in this moment that Akainu fully comprehended the fearsome reputation of the Yonko. The Four Emperors weren't just powerful individuals—they were forces of nature.
"Charlotte Linlin," he muttered through gritted teeth. Stories of Big Mom had always seemed exaggerated to him, tales grown tall in the telling. But now, facing her directly, he understood. Between her immense natural strength, the two homies—Zeus and Prometheus—who functioned like additional Devil Fruit users, and Napoleon, the sentient great sword, fighting her was like battling an entire crew simultaneously.
The realization made his blood boil. He was essentially fighting four opponents at once, and the frustration was maddening.
As this thought crossed his mind, Akainu couldn't help but curse Kizaru in his heart. That lazy bastard should be here fighting alongside me.
Akainu swore fiercely, his hatred palpable in the scorching air around him.
Not far away, Kizaru—who was still "entertaining" Charlotte Katakuri and his two brothers with his light-speed abilities—suddenly felt an inexplicable chill run down his spine.
Goosebumps instantly appeared on his skin beneath his pristine striped suit and shirt. It was as if some sixth sense warned him that something crucial—perhaps his comfortable lifestyle or maybe even his life—was slipping through his fingers like grains of sand.
This momentary distraction nearly cost him dearly. The three Sweet Commanders almost landed a coordinated blow that would have caused significant damage. Kizaru barely managed to evade, responding with one of his signature light-speed kicks that even Supernovas feared.
As he regained his composure, his thoughts drifted to the main battlefield. His eyes narrowed behind his tinted glasses as he assessed the situation.
"Well, it's almost time now," he mused, noting that reinforcements from the Marine branches had nearly all arrived. "In that case..."
Raising his hands, he called forth his power. "Yata Mirror~" he intoned in his distinctive, lazy drawl.
Golden light condensed between his palms, forming a gleaming surface. With precise control, he directed the light to avoid the lightning still crackling across the sky. The beam refracted at just the right angle, shooting directly toward Charlotte Linlin.
"Hey~ Sakazuki, I'm here to help you," he called out, his tone deliberately casual despite the gravity of the situation.
Akainu's response was immediate and predictably furious: "Fuck you, you bastard finally came!"
With Kizaru's arrival and the continuous stream of reinforcements from various Marine branches, the tide of battle began to shift. The Pirate Alliance inevitably found itself at a disadvantage, even their formidable backbone—Big Mom Charlotte Linlin—was struggling.
Even with the combined efforts of her Sweet Commanders, they were caught in an increasingly dire situation, surrounded and pressured from all sides.
The only high-ranking Marine not yet engaged in the main battle was Vice Admiral Garp, who was still some distance away. If he were to join forces with Akainu and Kizaru, even Big Mom would face the very real possibility of defeat or capture.
Although the situation grew increasingly unfavorable, Big Mom remained committed to her agreement with Kaido. For King'…she had promised to hold off the Marines for half a day.
This would ensure that even if the Marines eventually prevailed and attempted to provide reinforcements to Wano, they would waste precious time—time enough for Kaido to eliminate the boy who dared to challenge him.
And so, Charlotte Linlin honored her pact with her fellow Emperor, fighting against two Admirals alone to buy the necessary time.
Meanwhile, on an unnamed island near Wano Country, the battle between Kaido and Luffy had reached a fever pitch, the very air crackling with the clash of their wills.
" Kōsanze Ragunaraku!" Kaido bellowed, his voice like thunder.
In mid-air, the Emperor spun his massive kanabo, infusing the iron club with his overwhelming Conqueror’s Haki. The Eight Trigrams pattern glowed ominously as he brought the weapon down with earth-shattering force, aiming to crush Luffy from above.
Luffy looked somewhat disheveled at this moment. His clothes were torn in several places, and a thin trail of blood trickled from the corner of his mouth. Yet despite his appearance, his expression reflected not fear but intense excitement. The determined light in his eyes burned brighter than ever.
"Bring it on!" he shouted, his voice full of confidence.
Without flinching, Luffy spread his legs to stabilize his stance. He crossed his arms in front of his body, and instantly his form was enveloped in a layer of black Busoshoku Haki, crackling with electric-blue lightning.
"Armament: Thunder Armor: Iron Block!"
He combined his two strongest defensive techniques—the hardening of his Armament Haki and the lightning properties of his Devil Fruit—while simultaneously employing his strongest mental technique to prepare himself for the impact.
Luffy was ready to face this attack head-on. Not just to survive it, but to learn from it.
Kaido held nothing back, bringing down his kanabo with both hands, channeling all his monstrous strength into this single devastating blow.
In an instant, red and black lightning exploded outward from the point of impact. The ground beneath Luffy's feet instantly shattered like glass. The force of the blow drove him downward, his body disappearing into the earth as a massive crater formed around him.
In the sky above the battlefield, Koala, Mansherry, and Violet watched with horrified expressions, their concerns for Luffy written plainly across their faces. When they saw him driven into the ground, they cried out in alarm, fear gripping their hearts.
But surprisingly, Hancock, Gion, and Yamato maintained their composure, their expressions betraying no worry.
They understood what Luffy was doing—using his body to experience and comprehend the true nature of Conqueror’s Haki. He hadn't yet unleashed his full strength. They knew that once he mastered this power of the Conqueror, he would become Kaido's worst nightmare.
Just as the women contemplated this, an excited voice echoed from the massive crater Kaido had created.
"Hahaha, I've done it!!" Luffy's jubilant cry rang out, signaling not his defeat, but a breakthrough that would change everything.
Chapter 502: Golden Teacher—Kaido
"Hahahaha! Cool! So cool!" Luffy's voice echoed from within the crater, filled with unbridled excitement. "Is this the Conqueror’s Haki infusion that the strongest warriors use against each other? I've finally learned it!"
Almost the instant he finished speaking, a terrifying wave of pressure erupted from the pit. The aura swept across the battlefield like a physical force, oppressive and overwhelming, making the very air heavy with its power.
Kaido, standing closest to the epicenter, suddenly felt an unprecedented pressure bearing down on him. His eyes widened slightly, brows furrowing as the sensation triggered a distant memory—one of Captain Rocks D. Xebec in his prime. That same overwhelming, suffocating presence that made even the strongest warriors hesitate.
Though the six women observing from the sky weren't the intended targets of this Conqueror's Haki, they nonetheless felt its effects rippling outward. Boa Hancock, Vice Admiral Gion, and Yamato—all formidable warriors in their own right—felt the weight of Luffy's will pressing against them.
Violet and Mansherry, being less battle-hardened, nearly lost their balance in mid-air, their bodies wavering as if struck by a physical blow. Fortunately, Koala, who stood beside them, managed to steady them before they could fall.
"This... this Conqueror's Haki is several times stronger than mine," Hancock whispered, her voice a mixture of awe and something else entirely. Her serious expression suddenly transformed, cheeks flushing crimson as she clasped her hands together. "Luffy... ah~ I find myself falling even deeper in love with this man!"
Everyone around her responded with silent eye-rolls at her sudden romantic outburst amidst such a critical battle.
Yamato, excitement overriding any concern, pumped her fist energetically in the air. "Come on, Luffy!" she cheered at the top of her lungs. "Beat that stubborn old bull to the ground!!!"
Kaido, however, had no interest in acknowledging Yamato's taunts. His eyes remained fixed on the crater below, expression grave as he felt the terrifying power building within it.
"With Conqueror's Haki of this caliber, you're definitely no ordinary pirate!" he called out, his deep voice carrying across the devastated landscape. "What exactly are you planning? What drives you? What ambitions push you forward? What are you pursuing that gives you such strength?!"
His voice rose to a thunderous roar as he swung his kanabo downward. "MONKEY D. LUFFY!!!"
The moment Kaido moved, Luffy burst from the pit in a flash of movement. His right fist, now wrapped in crackling red and black lightning—the visual manifestation of his newly mastered Conqueror's Haki—collided heavily with Kaido's massive club.
But to the keen observer, something remarkable was happening. Luffy's fist didn't actually make physical contact with the iron weapon. Instead, the two forces clashed without touching, their Haki-infused attacks meeting in a contest of pure will and power.
This seemingly simple collision sent shockwaves through the entire island. A terrifying crack formed beneath their feet, running straight across the small landmass, completely splitting the islet in two equal parts.
Luffy laughed—that characteristic "shishishi" that marked his joy even in the most desperate situations—and deliberately jumped back, putting distance between himself and the Emperor. He looked down at his hands in wonderment, watching the red and black lightning dancing across his skin. It was entirely different from Enel's Rumble-Rumble Fruit abilities. This was pure Haki, manifestation of will made visible.
His grin stretched nearly from ear to ear, unbridled excitement evident in every feature.
Witnessing this development, Kaido's expression darkened further.
What the hell is happening today? he thought, bewilderment mingling with frustration. Under my kanabo, two people have successively mastered Advanced Conqueror's Haki.
A peculiar thought struck him then—could it be that he possessed some extraordinary teaching ability he wasn't even aware of? Like that little brat King had once jokingly suggested?
If he'd known this earlier, he should never have left the training of promising youngsters in the Beast Pirates to King. Had he taught them personally, perhaps someone among his crew would have been able to awaken this same power. Maybe then, the Kingdom of Wano wouldn't be under such pressure from the Marines.
The more Kaido contemplated this, the greater his regret grew. Why had he wasted such apparently potent teaching talent on an enemy?
When I gain Onigashima, he resolved, I'll personally train the new generation, including those young onei. I'll make them strong enough to help me reclaim Wano as soon as possible.
It was a fine plan for the future—but would Luffy allow him that future?
Kaido glanced at the Den Den Mushi still faithfully recording their battle. He knew Violet would edit the footage later, so Luffy likely wasn't concerned about revealing his true ambitions.
"Kaido," Luffy called out, his voice carrying across the shattered island, "thank you very much. Now that I've mastered Conqueror's Haki infusion, all I need is your head, and I can petition Fleet Admiral Sengoku for promotion to Admiral."
His eyes gleamed with mischief as he continued, "I wonder if you can help me become Fleet Admiral soon and take control of the world's most powerful organization?"
Kaido narrowed his eyes, but rather than responding with anger to these provocative words, he found himself amused. A smile—genuine, if somewhat predatory—spread across his face.
"Oh, hahaha~" he laughed, the sound rumbling from deep in his chest. "You speak of Admirals and Fleet Admirals so casually. You're that eager to become a dog for the Celestial Dragons? Such a waste of potential. You're hardly worthy of being my son-in-law."
"Haha, don't play dumb, Kaido," Luffy replied, his smile unwavering. "You're too smart not to have guessed my true ambitions already. Why don't you share your analysis? Prove that what I've been saying is true."
Luffy extended his hand in invitation, a casual gesture that carried tremendous weight.
Kaido's heart sank as another possibility occurred to him.
Is this mind reading? he wondered. Judging from our fight, he's already mastered future sight with his Observation Haki. Could he truly have developed the ability to read minds as well? This kid is a monster when it comes to Observation Haki.
Kaido had seen much in his long life as a pirate—abilities to read minds, sense emotions, and far stranger powers besides. After his initial surprise, he quickly regained his composure.
"Hey, kid," he growled, hefting his kanabo once more, "I don't care what you're planning. As long as I kill you today, no matter how ambitious your dreams, you'll only realize them in hell!"
Luffy's eyes glinted dangerously, his smile never faltering. "Oh? Brave words indeed. In that case," he shifted into a fighting stance, his body beginning to steam as he prepared to unleash his full power, "let me show you my true strength."
Chapter 503: Who Do You Think I Am?! I Am Emperor Kaido!!
"True strength? Are you talking about your lightning?" Kaido scoffed, his massive form looming over the battlefield. "Don't bring out those playthings and embarrass yourself!"
With a thunderous roar that shook the very air, Kaido leaped high into the sky before plummeting down toward Luffy, his kanabo raised high above his head.
This time, Luffy had no intention of meeting the attack head-on. He wasn't planning to continue his game with Kaido either. The moment had come to reveal another aspect of his power.
A flash of electric blue lightning crackled across his body, but vanished almost instantly—too quickly for an ordinary observer to notice.
Kaido didn't understand what technique his opponent was attempting. Undeterred, he continued his descent, kanabo poised to strike with devastating force. In his mind, it was not yet time for an upstart like Luffy to challenge the established order of the world!
As Kaido closed the distance with alarming speed, his weapon ready to crush Luffy into the shattered earth, something unexpected happened. Luffy simply extended his right hand toward the Emperor and made a grasping motion in the air.
In that instant, Kaido found himself suspended in mid-descent, unable to complete his attack or even move freely. The very air around him seemed to solidify, invisible chains binding his limbs and torso, severely restricting his movement.
"What kind of ability is this?" Kaido growled, genuine confusion in his voice. "Your Devil Fruit should be lightning-based!"
Luffy's lips curled into a knowing smirk. "That's why it's terrible to be ignorant," he taunted. "You don't even understand what methods your enemy is using."
His eyes hardened as he continued, "You should go down and ask the King of Hell yourself about this question!"
"Magnetic Field Disruption!"
Without Luffy making any obvious physical movement, a circular, transparent blue field materialized around Kaido. Unlike conventional attacks, this technique was nearly invisible—only a slight distortion in the air revealed its presence.
Trapped in the center of this field, Kaido suddenly felt his head swelling with pressure, pain splitting through his skull like a hot knife. His heartbeat accelerated dangerously, and the blood in his body seemed to respond to some unseen force, rushing chaotically through his veins and arteries.
Within moments, blood vessels beneath his skin began to rupture. Various internal organs—his heart, lungs, liver—suffered cascading damage as his body's natural systems were thrown into chaos.
Gradually, Kaido found himself struggling to breathe. The sensation in his limbs faded, replaced by a terrible numbness that threatened to consume him entirely.
In this state, the Emperor's natural electromagnetic field—present in all living beings but rarely manipulated—had been completely disrupted. Simultaneously, the minute iron elements present in his bloodstream were being influenced by the magnetic field, causing his blood to inflict damage throughout his body. Some was even flowing backward, directly against the natural tide returning to his heart.
Kaido's face flushed an alarming shade of crimson from the mounting internal pressure. It seemed as though his heart might rupture at any moment, bringing a swift end to the legendary pirate.
"Damn you, little brat!" he snarled through gritted teeth. "Don't think you can act so arrogantly just because you have a few strange tricks up your sleeve."
His voice rose to a roar that echoed across the shattered island. "WHO DO YOU THINK I AM?! I AM KAIDO, THE BEAST KING AMONG THE FOUR EMPERORS!!!"
After this thunderous self-declaration—so characteristic of the Emperor—Kaido's entire body, inside and out, was suddenly enveloped in the black sheen of Armament Haki. He strained against the magnetic field that Luffy had trapped him within.
His half-dragon body, still in human-beast hybrid form, shook violently as he fought to break free from Luffy's control.
Luffy's brow furrowed with concentration as he clenched his fist in the air, engaged in an invisible tug-of-war with Kaido's immense will and strength. His other hand remained active, raising toward the sky before directing a powerful bolt of lightning that struck Kaido directly, attempting to paralyze the Emperor's massive form.
But at that critical moment, Kaido unleashed a roar that seemed to split the heavens themselves. His body elongated and transformed, scales erupting across his skin as he assumed his full dragon form.
He broke free from Luffy's control almost instantaneously, just as the lightning strike found its mark. However, protected by both his legendary dragon scales and his Armament Haki, the attack caused minimal damage.
Luffy's eyes widened slightly at this development. He wasn't particularly surprised that Kaido had managed to escape his magnetic field—the Emperor's reputation for strength was well-earned. What caught him off guard was Kaido's tactical decision to transform into his full dragon form.
Doesn't he realize that in a battle between top-tier fighters, his enormous dragon form just makes him an easier target? Luffy thought, assessing the situation. With my speed after eating the Thunder-Thunder Fruit, his size is a disadvantage.
The Azure Dragon form that could decimate ordinary soldiers would be little more than a slow-moving target before Luffy's lightning-fast movements.
"Ha! You're asking for death," Luffy remarked with a confident grin. "Don't blame me for what happens next."
With a quick glance over his shoulder, he signaled to Hancock and the others to maintain their distance, indicating that the battle was about to escalate.
Koala looked up at Kaido's dragon form, which now dwarfed everything around it. After swallowing hard, she quickly directed her flame cloud away from the battlefield, the other women following her lead.
Kaido paid these "insects" no mind. All his focus remained fixed on Luffy, the only worthy opponent present.
"Little devil," he rumbled, his voice deeper and more resonant in dragon form, "I recognize your strength. From this point forward, I will fight with all my power!"
As he spoke, Kaido inhaled deeply, drawing in vast amounts of air. In an instant, he exhaled a barrage of wind blades, each one sharp as a sword and capable of slicing through stone.
"Boro Breath!"
When these wind blades struck the ground, they instantaneously carved gashes several meters long into the earth. Their numbers were so great and their pattern so dense that there seemed no space for an opponent to evade.
But such tactics were largely ineffective against Luffy. He simply needed to transform into his elemental lightning state, moving with impossible speed to avoid the area affected by Kaido's devastating breath attack.
Undeterred by his opponent's evasion, Kaido pursued relentlessly, continuously spitting wind blades while maneuvering his serpentine body through the air with surprising agility.
The Emperor began spinning at tremendous speed, his massive dragon form becoming a blur as he rotated like some colossal top. The resulting windstorm created a powerful tornado that raged across the small island, combining with the deadly wind blades that Kaido continued to expel from his maw.
The scene resembled nothing so much as a natural disaster—the kind of catastrophe that sailors told stories about in hushed voices. Had any ordinary people been present to witness it, sheer terror would likely have claimed their lives before the actual attack could.
Yet these devastating techniques proved entirely ineffective against Luffy. The wind blades couldn't connect with his lightning form, much less inflict damage. Even the massive tornado, for all its destructive potential, succeeded only in stirring up clouds of dust and debris.
Luffy hovered at the edge of the windstorm, watching Kaido's display of power with an unimpressed expression. When the Emperor's attacks finally began to subside, he called out:
"Is that all you've got? Then I guess it's my turn next."
Chapter 504: Field Open! Magnetic Field!
In mid-air, Luffy teleported above Kaido's head, materializing in a flash of blue electricity. Looking down at the massive dragon spinning in futile circles below him, he couldn't help but grin mischievously as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small coin.
Kaido should remember this technique, Luffy thought with satisfaction. Let's see if he appreciates a familiar electromagnetic cannon attack.
With practiced precision, Luffy flicked the coin upward, catching it between his thumb and forefinger. He braced his right arm with his left hand, positioning his fingers in the shape of a gun. Brilliant arcs of lightning began dancing between his digits, building in intensity until a dazzling beam of concentrated electricity burst forth.
"RAILGUN!!"
The electromagnetic projectile shot forward with devastating speed, the coin propelled by magnetic force and supercharged with lightning, streaking directly toward Kaido's serpentine form.
Kaido had spotted Luffy above him, but as the young pirate had so cleverly deduced, the Emperor's massive dragon body was simply too unwieldy to keep pace with Luffy's lightning-fast movements. By the time Kaido registered the attack and attempted to evade, the electromagnetic cannon had already reached him, piercing through his dragon scales and penetrating deep into his flesh.
"GWAAAARRRGH!!!" The dragon's pained roar shook the very air.
While this electromagnetic attack didn't cause catastrophic damage to Kaido's kilometer-long dragon form, it stirred memories of their previous encounter—when Luffy had managed to blow away half of Kaido's shoulder with a similar technique.
In an instant, Kaido's dragon eyes blazed scarlet with rage, the last thread of restraint in his mind threatening to snap.
"Damn you, little brat!" he bellowed, his voice carrying across the devastated landscape. "Is running around like a flea all you can do?! Didn't you want to learn Conqueror's Haki infusion from me? Come closer—I'll teach you properly!!"
As he spoke, flames erupted from Kaido's maw, but instead of shooting directly at Luffy, they swirled and coalesced around the Emperor's body. The fire gathered and intensified, eventually taking the form of an enormous flaming dragon that encased Kaido's true form within.
Luffy recognized this technique immediately. Looking at their respective positions—him above, Kaido below—he couldn't help but chuckle to himself.
"Hey, hey, this position seems familiar," he muttered with a smirk. "Should I shift into Gear 5 now and let my Gomu Gomu no Kong Gun teach you how to behave?"
Kaido had unleashed his Fire Dragon Torch—one of his most devastating attacks, the same one he had used in their climactic battle atop Onigashima. Luffy was surprised to see him resort to such a powerful technique so early in their fight.
Although this Luffy is not the same Luffy from the Canon with Mythical Zoan, he was well-versed in the art of elemental manipulation and giant formation.
"It's a shame there's no iron around," he lamented with a smile, "otherwise I could show you a real Gundam."
Despite this limitation, Luffy knew he had more than enough power to counter Kaido's attack. With a determined shout, he began condensing lightning around his body.
"But this one move is more than enough to deal with you! ASCEND…. RAIJIN NO KYOJIN!!!"
With his thunderous declaration, the sky darkened instantly as storm clouds gathered overhead. A terrifying electric current—reaching nearly one billion volts—surged around Luffy's form, enveloping him completely.
Using this electrical energy, Luffy transformed himself into a colossal figure reminiscent of a mythical thunder deity. The giant stood thousands of meters tall, wielding a golden staff crackling with lightning, with two great wings of wind and thunder spreading from its back. Its face was blue and fierce, with prominent fangs and beetle-like hair
The Thunder God giant that Luffy had formed matched Kaido's Fire Dragon in size and power, its wingspan stretching across the horizon as lightning arced between its fingertips.
Seeing the enormous thunder entity materialize before him, Kaido's eyes gleamed with excitement rather than fear. The challenge ignited his fighting spirit, his draconic features twisting into what might have been a smile.
"Oh-ho! I find myself liking you more and more," the Emperor rumbled. "Come then! Let's see which is stronger—fire or thunder."
With that challenge issued, Kaido directed his flaming dragon to lunge forward, its massive jaws opening wide to engulf the thunder giant.
Luffy's first move was strategic—he released a protective magnetic field around his Thunder God form. This field not only strengthened his construct's defense but also served to isolate and control energy flow around it.
With these preparations complete, Luffy commanded the thunder giant to swing its mighty weapon—the Golden Lightning Staff—directly at the flaming dragon's approaching head.
Both attacks were infused with Conqueror's Haki, the black lightning of their willpower visible even amidst the elemental chaos.
Before the dragon's jaws and the staff could physically connect, an invisible wave of force erupted between them as their Haki clashed in the space between. The two massive constructs separated momentarily before crashing together once more, their struggle continuing in the void.
This time, however, Luffy was not merely matching Kaido's power with his own. While maintaining the thunder giant, he was simultaneously manipulating the magnetic field around Kaido's Fire Dragon Torch, subtly unraveling its structure.
Soon, Kaido noticed his flaming construct becoming increasingly unstable, showing alarming signs of imminent collapse. Though he couldn't understand precisely what was happening, there was no doubt in his mind about who was responsible.
"Underhanded little devil!" he snarled. "Is trickery all you're capable of?!"
Luffy paid no attention to Kaido's protests. They were engaged in mortal combat, not some friendly exhibition match. Did Kaido truly expect him to fight with one hand tied behind his back out of some misplaced sense of chivalry?
In a life-or-death battle, one used every advantage at their disposal—even the most cunning tactics—to secure victory. Besides, these weren't underhanded tricks; they were Luffy's own hard-earned abilities, and using them was perfectly legitimate.
While Kaido fumed impotently, his Fire Dragon Torch—under the relentless influence of Luffy's magnetic manipulation—suddenly destabilized completely. The flames exploded outward before dissipating entirely, slipping beyond Kaido's control.
With the fire dragon extinguished, Kaido's true form was exposed, vulnerable in the open air.
Faced with the approaching Golden Lightning Staff—now wrapped in the black lightning of Conqueror's Haki—Kaido gritted his teeth and made the split-second decision to meet the attack head-on.
"DIE, BEAST KING!!!" Luffy roared.
With the added force of his magnetic powers, he channeled an enormous electric current into the thunder giant, the energy concentrating at the tip of the Lightning Staff.
The weapon descended with earth-shattering force, striking Kaido's head with a thunderous impact that echoed across the sea.
Chapter 505: Art is Explosion!
Under the influence of Luffy's magnetic field, Kaido's world spun. His ears rang with an incessant high-pitched whine, his heart hammered against his ribs, and blood surged through his veins with unnatural force. His body was in such a terrible state that maintaining his focus on the battle had become nearly impossible.
As the Golden Lightning Staff bore down upon him, Kaido summoned every ounce of his strength to reinforce his defenses with Conqueror's and Armament Haki. The black gleam of his hardened scales intensified as he fought to repel the attack, but he couldn't sustain the effort. A sudden wave of dizziness washed over him, causing a momentary lapse in his Conqueror's Haki—a critical opening that didn't escape Luffy's notice.
"You're finished!" Luffy shouted triumphantly, seizing the opportunity.
The colossal staff, condensed from pure lightning and nearly as thick as Kaido's head, crashed down with devastating force as the Emperor's protective aura faltered. Luffy channeled all his power into the Thunder Giant's strike, focusing the attack directly on Kaido's crown.
The impact sent Kaido plummeting toward the island like a meteor, his massive dragon form trailing lightning as he fell. When he struck the ground, the entire island shuddered violently, the force of the collision causing fractures to spread through the bedrock. Along the coastline, chunks of land cracked and broke away, sliding into the churning sea.
After driving Kaido to the ground, Luffy demonstrated what it truly meant to press an advantage. Rather than allowing his opponent to recover, he commanded his Thunder Giant to descend upon the fallen dragon with a relentless barrage of strikes.
Eventually, Luffy discarded the Lightning Staff entirely. The Thunder Giant seized Kaido by his serpentine neck with one massive hand while the other formed into a fist the size of a small ship, raining blow after devastating blow upon the dragon's head.
Stunned by this merciless assault, Kaido found himself unable to mount an effective counterattack. His thoughts scattered with each impact, consciousness threatening to slip away entirely.
Yet even after hundreds of punches, Luffy's thirst for victory remained unquenched. With a thought, he commanded the Thunder Giant to adjust its grip, forcing Kaido's head into a crushing hold.
"Hehe, try my finishing move," Luffy taunted, his voice echoing through the Thunder Giant.
He raised his right hand, extending his index and middle fingers skyward. A wild, almost manic grin spread across his face as he shouted:
"Art is EXPLOSION! GIGAVOLT KATSU!!!"
As the final syllable left his lips, a blinding white light engulfed the Thunder Giant's form. The radiance expanded rapidly, illuminating the sky and sea as though a new sun had been born. Even the women watching from thousands of meters away had to shield their eyes, the intensity of the light forcing their eyelids shut.
An earth-shattering explosion followed, the sound so powerful it sent waves of pressure rippling outward in all directions. The observers' ears rang painfully, their heads spinning as the concussive force washed over them.
Before they could recover from the initial shock, a horrific shockwave swept toward them, carrying a massive cloud of dust and debris. The very air itself seemed to compress and expand with violent force.
Koala, her body enhanced by the Azure Dragon Fruit, managed to regain her senses slightly faster than the others. When she managed to open her eyes against the onslaught, what she witnessed looked more like a natural disaster than the aftermath of a battle.
Her face drained of color as she quickly directed the flame cloud beneath their feet to retreat further, carrying them away from the expanding shockwave.
As their vision slowly returned, the women stared in disbelief at what remained of the island. A gigantic mushroom cloud rose from where the center of the island had been, its towering form casting an ominous shadow across the sea.
"He... he did it!" Yamato exclaimed, her voice a mixture of awe and vindication. "With an attack that powerful, even that bastard Kaido must be finished!"
The flash that had preceded Luffy's explosion had been particularly brutal for Violet, whose enhanced eyesight made her especially vulnerable to such intense light. She rubbed her aching eyes, wincing at the lingering discomfort.
"Damn it," she muttered, "how could that giant just explode like that? Thankfully I reacted quickly, or I'd be completely blind right now with no way to see whether Kaido survived or not."
Luffy himself had no idea that the explosion he'd triggered on impulse had nearly incapacitated some of his allies. Fortunately, Mansherry was present among the group. Though she too had been temporarily blinded by the flash, her natural tears contained extraordinary healing properties.
Following her instinct to never waste such precious liquid, she collected the tears that had involuntarily fallen from her eyes and sprinkled them over the affected women.
Almost instantaneously, Violet's stinging pain subsided. Not only were their eyes healed, but the ringing in their ears and the dizziness that had clouded their minds vanished completely, leaving no trace of injury.
Hancock shook her head, confirming that she was fully recovered before turning her attention back to the distant explosion site.
"Telescope," she urged, "use your ability to check on Luffy. And Kaido—is that monster finally dead?"
"Hey!" Violet objected sharply. "Who are you calling a telescope?!"
"Whoever answers is clearly the one I'm referring to," Hancock replied coolly. "Stop talking nonsense and take a look."
"You... hmph! I'm too tired to argue with you right now."
Violet silently filed this slight away, planning to find some way to exact revenge when they returned to safer territory. Standing firm atop the flame cloud, she slowly closed her physical eyes, allowing her Devil Fruit power to activate.
Her Glare-Glare Fruit ability let her vision travel effortlessly across tens of thousands of meters, penetrating the dust and smoke that still filled the air, seeking information about the aftermath on the unnamed island.
"Wait... where's the island?" she suddenly exclaimed, genuine confusion in her voice. "Why is the island gone?!"
Violet's outcry sent a shock through the group. They all exchanged alarmed glances, the same terrifying thought occurring to each of them simultaneously.
The explosion wasn't just powerful enough to defeat Kaido—it was powerful enough to sink an entire island.
Yamato, however, had priorities other than geography. She grabbed Violet's shoulders, her grip urgent and demanding.
"What about Kaido?" she pressed anxiously. "What about that bastard? Can you see him?"
"Stop shaking me!" Violet complained, trying to maintain her concentration. "I can't see clearly when you're jostling me like that!"
She refocused her extraordinary vision, carefully scanning through the vast cloud of smoke and debris that now hung over the sea where an island had once been.
