New Sales Tax Requirements
Added 2020-05-29 16:44:23 +0000 UTCHey beans! Starting July 1st, Patreon will start collecting sales tax on pledges. I have no control over this, unfortunately, and the taxes will be based on where you are, not where I am. According to Patreon, the tax charged can be anywhere from 4% to 11% and depends on your state/country's laws, and what benefits I've set to each tier.
What I do have control over is the tiers themselves. I've set the benefits to options that are tax exempt in most places (things like support and exclusive content are difficult to tax, apparently), so hopefully no one will see any big changes. Patreon is going to send out an email to notify patrons of this change soon, but I wanted to give everyone a heads up to let you know I'm aware of it.
