OfflineTV at VALORANT Champions 2023 Behind the Scenes

Hello Offliners & Patronies! I know it's been a while since the event, but we wanted to say thanks again to everyone who supported the OfflineTV booth at VALORANT Champions 2023 whether in-person or online. Now that the event is over, I'd love to share some BTS info on things like budgeting, design development, and other fun bits with y'all :D Hope you enjoy the read:

Design Development
This booth was primarily designed by myself, Henry, and a wonderful artist named Yunny who collaborated with us for last year's TwitchCon booth as well! We went through a few rough months between ideating to landing on a final design that we were all happy with. Henry really pushed for us to create an experiential design that was a level above what we've done before and I think it paid off in the end result!

You can see in the images our V1 (double decker) -> V2 (single floor no crate hallway) -> V3 (single floor mega long crate hallway) -> V4 (final with the shorter crate hallway). We also have some lovely photos that Jason took showing how it all came together IRL!

Budget
Events are incredibly expensive to put on, especially if you want to stand out amongst the crowd and give your attendees a special experience. Below is the breakdown of where our costs went this time:

With the way that OTV is structured, we don't have to pay our talent a fee to make appearances at events through the org which saves a lot of $$ compared to traditional brands!

Fun Facts

Feel free to ask any questions in the comments and I'll do my best to answer :) We hope to see you at future events!

All of the money generated by OTV stays within OTV! Our creators don't get directly paid by the org (I guess you can say they're paid in passion :P) so funding goes straight back into content production & staff wages. It can definitely be a double edged sword, but honestly is a big factor as to why OTV has managed to stay together and continue for way longer than a lot of other content groups.

We actually only had about 6 weeks between formally starting the booth design to the event date, which is way shorter than our typical 8 - 12 week lead time. Luckily, we were able to manage because we didn't have to commission many art assets and the booth area we had was on the smaller side!

I loved the explanation of your development process in this post (and not just because I'm in it)! Having more Amanda BTS process posts for stuff like this would be sick, I fully support it

This is so interesting and appreciate the transparency! Thank you for sharing💛

From what I've gathered: the talent have an ownership stake but otherwise aren't taking a payment or money out of the org. Instead the benefit of being a part of OTV is being a part of projects and videos that they otherwise wouldn't do on their own, then also improving their own brand, and also having access to OTV production, staff, and members to pursue new or different projects of their own. The money that OTV makes goes to paying it's staff, improving it's production, and the budget for their videos and projects. Pretty much when JJS joined the responsibility of planning and running OTV has moved from the "members/talent" onto the staff. The Patreon seems to have furthered that and now enable the staff to then explore and pursue their own projects and outreach within OTV.

I can imagine myself using Simp Master Card xD

Wow this. Is so impressive and insightful ! How much time in advance did you guys have prior to come up with all of this?

Always wondered how offlinetv is structured. As you said you dont have to pay talent to show up which makes sense. But how exactly does it work? Is the talent paying the crew? Or the crew paying the talent? Is the crew paying themself with money from YouTube Videos? I assume this will never be public but would be very interesting to know
