Rogue Hammer v 1.08 is now live on Wargame Vault. Patrons at 10+ dollars have also received a copy.
This clarifies how anti vehicle assaults work and updates all the unit profiles to have a distinct anti tank value when assaulting. The game should be a lot clearer to understand now.

Okay, a bunch of tweaks and changes including updating the Patreon page to more properly reflect current things.
*New things and what the Patreon will provide going forward:
We've been settled on two new playable items monthly (1 parsecs, 1 leagues) for a while. This will continue. They can be scenarios, characters, updates of old stuff, whatever.
Starting with this month, Shoot People in Space will also get a new item each month. This will probably be about a page so you can just fit it in the back of your book and may be a bit of anything.
Each month, at least new blog post for the Unified Space blog. It will probably be two, but I am committing to one.
A new post on both of the historical gaming blogs (Danish military history and the First World War). The first topic is obviously super niche so thats more of a freebie really. Both are things I am working on while preparing some games down the line though.
Some of you wont be interested in that stuff, but since its basically extra content on top of what you were already getting, you arent really losing anything.
Plus the usual stuff (maintaining the discord, answering questions online, updating FAQs and so forth).
I have been working on making my work flow more systematic and regular, since it helps avoid the crazy imbalance I have where I will work 3 hours one day and 25 hours the next. This makes it a lot more realistic and means I can spend more time with the family, while also working on new projects to sell and new material for the overlords.
So to summarize: 3 playable pieces of content every month, at least 3 blog posts and the general support I already provide and couldn't do without Patreon.
I also have a cool project in mind for those of you who are interested in the history of scifi gaming but Ill talk more about that later.
In a practical, book-keeping kind of way, the following changes:
*I will start putting tags on posts. It will be a bit of work to tag old posts, but at least for new content it'll make it easier to find what you are after. So if you don't care about the history stuff (or ONLY care about that), you can use the tags to find things, at least once its all set up.
*The Patreon is now set to charge up front when you sign up. This should only affect new subscribers.
* There is also an option now to pay up front for a year. You get 10% off by doing that so instead of 60 dollars, you'd pay 54. This is kind of an experiment but Patreon suggests to offer it, so I figured why not try it?
The one thing I removed was the promise of discount codes. I never really liked using that as a reward because it always feels like being lazy. This doesn't mean I won't give away codes now and again, it just means I am not going to use that as one of the items I have committed to, though I reserve the right to do so if we have a death in the family or something else
* * * * *
I hope all of these things make sense and I want to thank you all for supporting independent gaming.

Just wanted to let you know that the setting blog was updated with the article on time keeping (in all its complicated Unity glory) and another post will go up tonight or tomorrow. You can find that here
https://unifiedspace.posthaven.com/unity-time-records
Additionally, I wanted to point you guys to two other blog projects. As you know, NWG has always done historical gaming as well. In fact, historical gaming is what the company started out with.
I have big plans for the next year or two in that regard, but I also wanted to start contributing to the general historical resources gamers have available, particularly in areas I am interested in.
As such, I have been posting to two blogs with an eye towards people who are new to the particular historical topic as well as gamers.
The first is https://explainingww1.posthaven.com which goes into detail for the First World War. The aim is to delve both into field manuals, do some book reviews and do articles showcasing various topics of the conflict, always with an eye towards tabletop gaming.
The second, which is very niche, is https://denmarkatwar.posthaven.com and focuses on the Danish military from the Napoleonic wars to WW1, with a particular focus on the 1848 and 1864 wars.
Now that in itself is way too niche to really be profitable, its a passion project, however, if you are interested in the first world war I hope you check out the first couple of articles and subscribe so you get updates as they go along.
They are both projects I am doing while preparing for projects they relate to as well as just diversifying my writing a bit.
I will be providing updates on the blogs as part of the Patreon rewards so expect seeing that. This wont change the providing of gaming content.

Please enjoy. For the new folks, the FAQ also includes the balancing tweaks. These are OPTIONAL but Id like people to test them out.

A small update to Weaseltech has been posted as well. This just clarifies the hit modifiers for movement orders a bit, so there's no need to print anything except that one page. You can upload the new file from your Wargame Vault library as usual.

If you pre-ordered the book, you should see that your PDF was updated today. This includes a number of small fixes (typos etc.) as well as a number of clarifications. I have tallied the major ones to the PDF attached to this post, but there will also be a blogpost Thursday.

In a few minutes, the newest update to Weasel Tech is available to download. This adds a new page with fluff text and updates some terminology throughout the book. There is no need to print your book again, but I think you'll get a kick out of the update.

I am trying to examine ways to continue expanding and diversifying just what it is Nordic Weasel Games does and drawing in some additional manpower.
One of the things several people have said they would like to see more of is game design theory, thoughts, behind the scenes information etc.
Assuming the Patreon stays fairly stable, that will probably be the first thing to start tackling in a regular basis this year, most likely through blogging.
Stay tuned. 2022 is the year of the Weasel, yeah?

Please don't upload anything I make to Scribd under any circumstances.
I realize piracy happens and it is whatever. I dont prowl the internet trying to take that stuff down because in the end, my time is better spent elsewhere and I suspect the people pirating don't actually play the game.
But Scribd actively monetizes their service, which relies on mountains of pirated content, meaning they make money off content they don't own and never paid for.
Fuck the lot of them and please stop doing it. Even if I have given permission for something to be distributed freely, I ask that you please do not upload it to Scribd.

First, Five Men in Normandy has been updated to version 1.03. Change log at the back of the book as always. Mostly some small tweaks to just tidy up game play but combat should also be more exciting and dramatic now and cover should be easier to understand.
Second, if you didn't notice yet, the Weasel Mech rules are here: Weasel-Tech is inspired by anime robot shows and is one of the fastest selling releases Ive ever done. You can grab your copy here

A few updates has already been added, so if you bought your copy on release night make sure to download the file again.
I hope you are all having a comfy and safe December and I'll talk to you soon.

Kid has a pretty raspy cough. School said to keep him home until 10 days or we've had a covid test. Gonna go tomorrow, but potentially that's a bit of time being stuck at home so wish me luck!
We should be all fine, we've got our shots and we have ample supplies at home for a few days, plus we can have stuff delivered, but I'd rather not /have/ to spend it stuck indoors for 2 weeks :)

Not everything is solo gaming of course :)
A small update to Renegade Scout is live on Wargame Vault. This tweaks the Mounted weapon trait so it includes Slow (which shortens some weapon profiles). I also redid the table of contents using software so it should behave nicer when you click on it in the PDF and make the game easier to navigate digitally.
RS has been on a hiatus for a little and I think it's overdue for us to revisit.
If you are not a player already, RS is my retro-inspired, 40K-compatible skirmish game set in the Unified Space setting and is a ridiculously comprehensive book with everything from campaign rules to army lists. It is solo friendly but not a full solo experience in the same way 5P is.
You can check it out below:

I have updated the Patreon page a little bit. As the long-timers know, the Patreon has always shifted a bit over time in terms of what is being offered and what it supports. That is the nature of it, especially as new people come in, others drift away etc.
The goal for the foreseeable future remains: Provide new material for 5P and 5L primarily (we had 3 items last month which is about the level I think is fair).
Assorted freebies, back catalogue items and oddities as we go along (FiveCore Pulp was the most recent).
Updates to other game titles when possible (Squad Hammer in particular has seen substantial additions in the past months).
The above are not new changes, as much as they are adjusting the text on the front page to more accurately match what I am actually doing and what you can expect from the Patreon.
Trying to predict what over a hundred people want is quite a challenge. Some people want optional rules, some want scenarios, some want something third. In the end, I hope that you trust the directions I am taking the games.
I am wary of having the Patreon feel too much like a "purchase" program. I think that way lies too much potential for disappointment, stress and conflict similar to how Kickstarter changed from a "support a promising idea" to "let me dazzle you with pre-orders". I'd rather not be engaged with things like that.

Not everything is Five Parsecs of course, so how about an update to Squad Hammer Core? 1.06 brings group orders, more detail on how units and orders can interact and a more detailed assault sequence with more tactical options (and hopefully better explained as well).

This is just a freebie and isn't Patreon specific.
The attached PDF has a selection of house rules for 5P that you might want to try out. I /am/ looking for feedback on them but none (except maybe the blast weapon rule) are being considered for inclusion at the moment. They are more something to have fun with and help tinker with your game.

If you already own Squad Hammer Core but did not own the original SH, it is now included as part of the SHC download. Just go to the Library section of Wargame Vault and you should find it there. This marks the official point of Core superseding the original game I suppose. (though this has realistically been the case for a while)

Thank you so much for your support. I realized I don't say that enough and it really does mean the world. Whether its financially on here, people who email me that they played a game and had a great time or who show me pictures of things they are painting up, it means a lot. Growing up gazing at White Dwarf and other magazines, it still feels surreal when someone says "Yeah, I just bought these miniatures to play your game". So thank you so much.
