Syms Christmas Message - A Big Thank You

At the start of this year, I was worrying if I'd even have Retale 1 completed, worried how it'd go down with people and worried if people would even care. Little did I know that I'd have all this support later on by you guys!

Back on April 23rd we launched Retale 1, and it became what I'd call a success, with many people loving the style and I think what hit me most was how a lot of people could relate to the experiences. I can't honestly tell you how thankful and how much I treasure your support on this project.

Come November 23rd we released Retale - Managers Call, the sequel to Retale 1, a seven month period of bunkering down and non-stop work went into Retale 2 up till its release in November.

I think part of me had already seen that I could perform and do much better than the first game, and after seeing how much support it had gotten, I really wanted to try my best to blow your socks off with Retale 2.

Retale 2 also brought in the new game systems, new play style and even voice actors. Mia's voice actor especially was invaluable to the project in my personal opinion. I'm so glad she was a hit with most people, I was terrified people would just find her annoying!

All of this couldn't of been possible without this patreon and your backing, I still can't believe how lucky I am to have this support and I want you to know its never taken for granted.

So what's planned for 2019 and ahead? Well Chapter 2 I'm hoping to have done in the same sort of time frame as the first chapter, seven months seems very doable, especially as we now already have the main assets and areas down. A lot of time and energy went into the base resources and areas that I needed to make and do, which I no longer will have to go back to and reuse. The small bits like lamp-posts and certain colours, it all takes up time.

With chapter 2 I hope to expand on a lot of mechanics and quests that were sort of promised to you on chapter 1, and hopefully, bring something that can keep you invested and playing for even longer. If I could, I'd love to get it into a playable state where you're at it for hours and have to take a break. (I was still surprised with how fast some of you completed Chapter 1!)

You can expect more silly minigames, more characters and more scenes. I know our community has a variety of people from the entire spectrum.

I'm a firm supporter of LBGTQ+ and want to reflect that in my characters and to the community that also support it. I think many of you already know of two relationships already in game between two males, and two females. (Not to spoil any of you!)

If you haven't already, please do consider joining the discord, and voicing what you'd like to see in Chapter 2. Now is the perfect time to get in your suggestions and ideas because its still very early days. Having said that, in just this first month since Retale 2's release. Most of the new areas have already been drawn, and a lot of the rooms of those maps have already been mapped and have tilesets! Characters have been drawn and game systems and voice acting is already in the works!

I never want to stop working for you guys, and it'd be a crime for me to rest. Those first few comments I get on each game release and the people that find something in the game for the first time and love it, is honestly like candy to me. I love seeing those reactions and I think that's what I live for.

If there's one message you can take away from this is that, well, firstly A BIG THANK YOU! But also to you that pledge and support me, I encourage everyone to find something that they can do that makes them feel so good. For me, as cheesy as it sounds, its you guys. Thanks for making 2018 an awesome one, you've brought me out of an incredibly rough situation.

Lets have a great 2019 guys!

xx
