PHB'24 Ranger Class Fix V2

Ok, so I crunched the numbers, and the previous fix I proposed wasn't going far enough to empower Hunter's Mark to make it a relevant damage boost.

This update has new damage scaling for Hunter's Mark (from 1d6 all the way to 3d8) and Relentless Hunter has been moved to level 9 (which removes the concentration on HM earlier than before, allowing you to cast other concentration spells at the same time).

If you're interested in the math I used, here's a google spreadsheet with the calculations and some line graphs comparing the different class changes to one another (by damage per round or 'DPR' per level): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1KuKZ7QqgtRS7xJmWZx4sLsqhMmYFLxUvXkzlMGshNM8/edit?usp=sharing

I'm using standards for calculating DPR created by Chris from the youtube channel Treantmonk's Temple, because I think his method and math are pretty sound. This is his channel: https://www.youtube.com/@TreantmonksTemple

PHB'24 Ranger Class Fix V2

I really appreciate that! My goal is to address the bad feeling of being locked into Hunter's Mark as the primary class-defining feature, especially when the damage it offers doesn't compensate for cutting out all other concentration spells. I figure, rather than replacing that aspect of the class, I can fix Favored Enemy by both improving the incentive to choose Hunter's Mark and removing the limit to spell choice. I also feel like they've gutted a lot of the (mechanically bad) features that provided a lot of Rangery flavor before, and the class feels pretty hollow now. Idk if I've gone far enough to boost the other mechanics that make Rangers unique, but that's something I'd like to achieve.

Man I had some of my own ideas for fixing this (largely just lazily not requiring concentration; but it didn't address the other abilities) -- this is friggin genius. Well done. Going to offer this to my players as an alternative.
