Nuki News #85 - Gorochu!
Added 2022-03-03 02:32:36 +0000 UTCHah, first nukinews of March caught me by surprise i'll admit. So uh, here's what I'm up to today- drawing Gorochu! At least, my interpretation of it! I'd been wanting to draw this fabled fakemon who-could-have been Raichu's evolution for quite a few years and never got to it!
The reason I'm just now getting to it? Well, a mutual creative friend of mine has a Raichu Sona, and their birthday is coming up, I had an idea...but I had to work on my own interpretation of Gorochu first! Gorochu was actually slated to be an evolution of raichu, and the designer at the time said it would be defined by having fangs and horns on its head! I also wanted to add a sort of mane/cloud like fluff to the tail and around the neck. Kinda kingly look, or thundercloud, and adds more to the design to make it feel closer to an 'evolution' rather than tacking more on to Raichu.
On the left is my first attempt- a bit stiff but shows some of the design features I wanted. Did another rough drawing with more poise and gesture to color up~! I certainly like it better, I was also not trying to make them too chunky/fat since I wanted it to be more general, even using some official Pokémon art stylings with the hands, eyes, and coloring.
And here it is! A generic Gorochu reference for me to use in very near future~ I suspect some might find the fluff by the tail bolt is silly, but I kinda cant help but like it.
