Mikio's asking Mizu to show all of herself was the first time in her entire life where she had an opportunity to be HERSELF without any 'masks'. She was having fun. But she grew up mostly isolated from other people, even with Sword Father she was isolated other than his customers. She didn't really have an opportunity to learn subtle cues of human interaction. I think that's why she missed how unsettled Mikio had become. And Mikio wasn't really expecting a woman to be as good as she was. Especially during a time when a woman couldn't even travel without a chaperone.
