An introduction to Myths and Legends
Added 2025-04-08 08:17:57 +0000 UTCIf you are reading this post then you'll know that in addition to the short stories I'm writing, I am also trying to build my own TTRPG system. The purpose for this is to help bring more of Acir to life, to show parts of the world that I either struggle to write or may lack the scope in my stories to properly convey. That being said, this is a very long and slow process and I find myself struggling to put the rules that I want to incorporate into written words.
Until a time that I have properly consolidated the many disorganized thoughts I have into one legible resource document, the details of this project will be presented in individual detailed posts similar to this one. Conversations regarding rules, phrases, the setting, and more are all welcome and encouraged on the Patreon Discord in the Adventurer's Guild channel. Unlike this general introduction, and the next 4 posted in fairness between the initial free short stories, I will be making one post at the beginning of every month exclusive to the Adventurer tier and higher.
To start, I feel I should explain what Myths and Legends is. As stated prior, this is a TTRPG system I am actively working to build effectively from the ground up. Many attributes of it are similar to D&D 5E since it's the RPG that I am personally most familiar with to use as reference. However, I am taking active steps to avoid just making another homebrew or a module to that system. Myths and Legends is built first and foremost to give interactivity to Acir itself, but my hope is that when the system is done, it can be used to play games and tell stories in whatever settings a table wants it to.
Primarily what you should expect to see from these posts then are not lore regarding Acir. That will all remain within free posts or within the stories on the Scholar side of the second subscription tier. My discussions of Myths and Legends will be about the rules and the mechanics. A means of breaking down everything from character creation to running a combat encounter and everything in between.
As the project starts taking shape more and more, I intend to post comprehensive guides for both interested players and "gamekeepers" alike. This way I can help promote a cheap method of playing a new system while making this tier more meaningful than a random assortment of phrases and rules that make little to no sense on their own.
Finally I would like to offer a very heartfelt thank you to all supporters. I understand that my dreams for this world are ambitious and lofty, but with time I know that with the right time and attention it can become something that we will grow well beyond the dream of one creator.
