Another mission had come to an end.

The Deus Venatores' entry into the home had been impeccable, the well-trained agents barely raising a whisper in the sleeping neighborhood. The threat was unknown, only that it existed and had been feeding on the increasingly quiet neighborhood; now, they were here to stop it.

And they did. With technology, and skill, and spirit, and sacrifice, they'd stopped it.

But not before it had taken its toll. The girls were well-trained, but still mortal in the face of the unknowable and far too vulnerable in the face of some creature bristling with claws, teeth, and hunger.

It was because of this reality that their efficiency in combat was matched only by their efficiency in cleaning up after themselves. The dead were piled out front of the eyeless neighorhood, a moment or two later a van would appear to load the dead onto before it'd vanish down the mist-shrouded street.

The people were safe. The dead were honoured. The survivors would wait for their next mission.

They knew their role, and they would play it to perfection.
