Daily Short Story: Kyo 33

ACT  963161069-33889.21.(M9.D22)Fluffy Alchemist Kyo

“Money is the single most successful invention of humanoid races.” Sene said.

“Nom. Nom.” Kyo replies as she devours another fish. While sausages and bacon are still top tier fish towers above them!

Nota, Robert the Lion, and Talos the Butcher had decided the time had come for Kyo to learn about numbers and the value of currency, a vital skill she would need to navigate the world at large. Previously she had never handled anything more than coppers so her sense of value was very warped. Robert the Lion didn’t want word getting out that his people were bad with numbers or money and so, Sene, took it upon herself to impart the knowledge to the kitten.

In the fish market Kyo had bought the air was filled with the fragrant aroma of spices and the vibrant colors of the myriad stalls adorned with their wares. The merchants' voices rang out in a cacophony of sales pitches, as the market teemed with life.

"Kyo," Sene began, "do you see this lively scene before you? This is where we shall begin your journey to understand the value of numbers and currency."

Kyo's eyes widened as she gazed upon the bustling market. "Why?” she asked, her voice filled with curiosity.

Sene smiled warmly and handed Kyo a small sack filled with assorted value coins. "These are the most basic form of currency," she explained, as Kyo examined the shiny copper coins with wonder. "People use them to exchange goods and services. Now, let us start by understanding numbers."

Sene guided Kyo through the market, teaching her the concept of numbers and how they represented quantities. Kyo knew numbers up to ten easily, but past that her knowledge was sparse. Sene patiently explained to Kyo how to count and perform basic arithmetic. Together, they practiced counting items at various stalls, and Kyo quickly grasped the concept of addition and subtraction.

As they continued their journey through the marketplace, Sene began to teach Kyo about the value of currency. She explained that the copper coins in her hand could be exchanged for goods and services, but that their worth was not equal to all things. Some items were more valuable and would require more coins in exchange, while others were less so and would require fewer coins.

Kyo listened intently, her eyes fixed upon the older female’s cunning visage as she spoke. "How do we determine the value of something?"

Sene chuckled, her eyes twinkling like stars in the night sky. "Ah, my dear little Kyo, that is a question that has perplexed humanoids since the beginning of time. The true value of an item is determined by many factors – its rarity, its usefulness, and even the desire others have for it. The value of currency is relative and can change over time, just like the shifting sands of the desert."

Kyo pondered her teacher’s words, allowing them to resonate within her. As they strolled through the market, she watched as the copper coins changed hands, their value constantly shifting as they were exchanged for goods and services.

With each passing hour, Kyo's understanding of numbers and currency grew, and with it, her appreciation for the wisdom Sene had shared. She learned that the value of currency was a reflection of the world itself, ever-changing and filled with complexity.

In the evening, Kyo and Sene sat beneath the shade of a large palm tree in the mansion’s, Kyo turned to the older female Cat Tribe with a curious gleam in her eyes. “Big Sis Sene," she asked, "is there anything in the world that holds a constant value, something that isn't affected by the shifting sands of time?"

Sene pondered her question, their eyes gazing off into the distance. After a moment, she turned to Kyo and smiled warmly before saying, “Life. Your life always has the same value, no matter the time, at least to you.”
